MaxZIP
Do any of you know if the concession stands and restrooms will be added to the stadium this offseason? Also, are they planning to extend the main grandstand?
skip-zip
I must say, I was a little bit disappointed this year when I went to the brand new stadium, and found out that I still needed to negotiate my way outside and stand in line to use the portable toilet. Restrooms would be great. The field will host at least 13-15 men's games and 12 or so women's games.
Sergeant Zip
I don't see anything on the bid list or RFPs.
RootforRoo44
I don't see anything on the bid list or RFPs. It's still VERY early. Who knows, they surprised us all last summer with the late work, hopefully they can at worst do the same this year.
72 Roo
Expanding the grandstand while providing permanent restrooms, team shop and concessions are the next steps for our program. The coaches believe if we have those facilities we can average 5,000 per game (this year we averaged 3,300 per game good for 2nd in the country behind UC Santa Barbara). I have heard, with no confirmation, that development is working with some entity interested in naming the stadium. The naming rights, if secured, will bring more cash but not enoughto pay for all the above. Momentum is on our side, though, and we many supporters determined to keep us at the top. You better believe that Caleb would not have stayed if further investment in our soccer stadium was not assured. I've got to believe that completing the stadium is a top project for TW. MaxZIP
The stadium should also have a ticket booth equipped to accept credit cards. The ticket tent is very highschool. Also, there has to be a way to arrange the restrooms, concession stands, and ticket booths to serve soccer, baseball, softball, and track. I trust what they have going. Keep up the good work. RACER
naming rights would be great but i have no idea how much money that would bring in.
ZachTheZip
naming rights would be great but i have no idea how much money that would bring in. Optimistically 1 or 2 million. That's spread over all the things you can name like the entire stadium, the press box, each entrance, the concession stand, etc. and assuming everything sells. I don't think we would lose any tradition by allowing it to be named. "Lee Jackson field" is used to refer to so many of our athletic facilities (baseball, softball, outdoor track) that more diversity would be welcome. fknbuflobo
I beg everyone’s pardon for how corny this sounds, but I am serious (for a change). Outback Steakhouse should buy the naming rights for Lee Jackson. Imagine the marketing possibilities of an Australian restaurant chain matched with a kangaroo mascot. scottditzen
I can't help but think that perhaps they could have situated the field closer to the student center. Then the issue of bathrooms/team shops/food service would have all been served by pre-existing, already paid for facilities. Plus, can you imagine how cool the balcony restaurant seating would've been on game day!
Zip_ME87
The stadium should also have a ticket booth equipped to accept credit cards. Perhaps the Athletic Dept. could invest in one of those hand-held credit card machines like all the airlines have to charge you for their boxed lunches. That is an easy solution because of the campus's WiFi network. They could take credit card for all events and concessions with little investment. scottditzen
Something about "wifi" plus "credit cards" has me wondering what kind of supergenius is out there, just waiting to steal all that info! fknbuflobo
Right! All the people I tried to convince into buying season tix last year now want them. UA can sell all additional grandstand seating.
