Former Glenville DB transfers to Akron

Recommended Posts

Came across an interesting post on Twitter and decided to investigate further.

Rodnell Pierce is a Safety from Glenville who graduated in 2010. He verballed to the Ball State Cardinals and greyshirted this past season. It appears he is now transferring to the Zips following a coaching change in Muncie. ESPN rates him as a three-star prospect.

Great news. Seems like the "Glenville Pipeline" has been opened.

Ianello has thusfar delivered on his promise to hit Glenville hard. He's seemingly disrupted Ball State's Glenville-Muncie pipeline. However, Ball State has been terrible since Brady Hoke departed. It will be interesting to see if Ianello can produce better results with Glenville talent than Ball State could muster (5 Glenville kids --> 4 wins in 2010).

Does that 5 count Pierce? Because Pierce didn't play, so that is 4 Glenville Kids --> 4 wins. ;) Still 3 better then what we had last year.

Those are some ignorant and foul Twitter posts by Rodnell. I sure hope he is a lot more mentally mature than the impression that he gives on Twitter. Does anyone know what sort of grades this kid has?

His tweets aren't any worse than some of our current athletes. I will say that eventually he and all the Zips using social networks will hopefully realize that everything they say is public and will be read by prospective employers and if they make it big young people looking for role models. Some are smart enough to keep their profiles private so they don't say something that their coaches (yes, of course they monitor that stuff) might not like.

I have not been impressed with the maturity or class of many athletes coming out of Glenville. The tweets of this athlete seem more of the same. At any program, athletes who come off as doing you a favor by signing with your college team fail to impress me. Act like you want to be a Zip and I'll be glad to welcome any player the coaches recruit.

There is a reason that Glenville has multiple major DI college players every year, yet can't win the state title.

Lack of discipline and thugliness.

The University needs to monitor some of our guys twitter accounts more. There are some pretty terrible things posted on some guys accounts. Not the way you want the University to be represented. I understand the freedom of speech issues that go into this, but some of these guys need some lessons in accountability.

Quick... Isn't it paradoxical that the world today seems to abhore accountability, but the teams that accept and embrace it are winners. Ask the Socceroos. :NCAAC: Just my observation: today's ballyhooed high school kid wants more attention to himself than desires to pay the price to win championships.

Nice find. Maybe he can help convince a couple of three star recruits on the top of our list from Glenville to join him. TE Frank Clark & DT Antwan Crutcher

Doesn't look like it. Crutcher just verballed to Ball State.

Really? Solich might have to sleep this one off.

That's what ScoutingOhio said at the time. I see they changed it now.

Another former Glenville DB from the class of 2010 has had a falling-out with his new head coach.

A little birdie told me that this is a situation worth keeping an eye on for Zips fans. His situation means that he can transfer without sitting out a year.

This would be fantastic. Last year Rivals had him as a 5* recruit listed at 5'11" 185 w/ a 4.4 40.

If his football career doesn't pan-out, he can always be a lyricist for our dance team?

Just say no to Anderson. Kid is a punk and we don't need that type of cancer on the team.
