UAZip0510
Last 4 MAC games: Marshall - 7 PPG, 5 RPG, 1 BPG, 4 FPG McKnight - 8 PPG, 2 RPG, This team isn't going to do much if these two don't step up.
zipsfan13
Why can't they play like this for an entire game?
UAZip0510
Marshall has more fouls (3) than rebounds (2). I'm not expecting him to score a ton this season, but a 7 footer only getting two rebounds against a team with no players taller than 6'9" is inexcusable. Dave in Green
I've said in the past that I wouldn't mind seeing the Zips focus less on defense if they could make it up on the offensive end. But the worst case scenario is to lose the focus on defense and not be able to deliver on the offensive end. That's where the Zips are right now. Their defense is inferior to previous years and their offense is about the same. You don't have to be a math major to understand what that adds up to. zipsfan13
I know they want to get some quick scores, but it would be nice if they could wait just a few seconds to let the other guys get down there so they might be able to grab a rebound. ZippyTuba11
Its not just that they throw up prayer threes so often, its that they never have anybody in position under the basket when those prayers go up. I could live with the 3s if it meant more offensive boards and easy put backs. But as it stands, the constant threes are just as bad as turnovers. Valpo Zip
Did anyone see the zips execute a play tonight? even after a time out, they just dribbled the ball around for a bit before hoisting a freaking 3. Does Dambrot have plays to call?
MaxZIP
The ZIPS are great at fighting back from 20 down to keep the loss under double digits. They don't appear to be playing hard until about 4 min left in the game. EDIT...Nevermind they are going to lose bymore than ten this time
RowdyZip
Terrible game all around, but I can't wonder what to think about the 28 (TWENTY EIGHT!) free throw attempt differential.

It's pointless to put off the things that I need to get done in order to watch them when all they do is upset me. I'm not quitting on them, just so everyone knows. Oh well, time to start my homework. ZippyTuba11
Nik got some very easy points in the paint tonight by backing down his man. Why didn't they keep going to that every possession until NIU stopped him? That would have opened up opportunities for other players... And the fouls tonight were way out of hand. Amazing the game ended as close as it did.
gozips19
the guards refuse to guard anyone but they make up for that by being the dumbest team in the league with the ball. they are in big big trouble
zipsfan13
It's amazing how easy Akron makes it for other teams to play defense against them. I mean, how hard is it when the only things our guards do are stand around and dribble instead of trying to penetrate?
RootforRoo44
12-30 from three point rangeOnly 12 free throwsZeke only took SIX shotsB. McKnight took 15 shots, probably 12 of them just TERRIBLEWe took 13 more shots and made four more field goals (We shouldn't lose with those numbers)
Dave in Green
A game cannot be accurately analyzed with selective stats. You have to look at all the stats. Whatever Zips stats may have looked decent, you can be sure that there were other stats that more than negated the positive ones. I'd go look at the total game stats right now, but I'd rather just go to bed and forget what I saw tonight.
Captain Kangaroo
A game cannot be accurately analyzed with selective stats. You have to look at all the stats. Whatever Zips stats may have looked decent, you can be sure that there were other stats that more than negated the positive ones. I'd go look at the total game stats right now, but I'd rather just go to bed and forget what I saw tonight. As the Zips Dance Team Coach would say: "F#$K Stats, we are F%$*-ing S-O-F-T!" Brett McKnight drives the lane like every defender is 7' 8" and 389 lbs. Wide open lay ups, and he pulls up from 10 ft. Miss after miss after miss from 1ft. I apologize for getting on Cventinovic for his missed lay ups. McKnight is WAY worse. At least Nik hits 60% of his 1-footers. McKnight hits about 43%, and begs for fouls...while he's FADING AWAY?! Zeke was soft tonight. McKnight was soft. We overplayed on defense like we have all season, leading to numerous easy scoring opportunites for NIU. Silas averages 24 ppg, so against our vaunted "1.7 Multiplier Perimeter Defense" he went for 39. He joins Cooper and Cotton and Kool and....oh, I give up. If you're a scorer and you play against the Zips, you can name your points. McNees panicked when we had PLENTY of time left for a poised come back, tossing up all sorts of wild stuff. Not a 5th year senior performance tonight. Dambrot's technical was a total blunder. We got out of it surrendering only 2 points, but the guy has to compose himself. We had NIU on the ropes, and he broke our momentum and let them off. Beyond that, no need to get a T because the foul disparity was justified! The lazy, slow-footed Zips were reaching, grabbing, pushing...doing everything but playing hard-nose D. This team isn't as talented as those of year's past, but their lack of defensive effort, and offensive poise makes them difficult to enjoy. Unless...we're playing Milliken. Mopped the floor with those sorry bastards...
GP1
Maybe someone posted this already. If so, sorry for doing it again. NIU has a player worthy of 5 NBA scouts coming out and only had 771 people at the game. That's just terrible.

Dr Z
Where are the coach K comments on the NIU game? Nothing here?...or here?...not here?....can't find them here either? I would like to hear his thoughts on how a team that focuses so much on defense surrenders 83 points to a team that is 3-3 in mac play? He needs to right this ship. PS Hey ZTV, how did this executive decision turn out? You can change all my "OU's" to "NIU's" and ask the same questions to make it seem more up to date. Nothing has changed since then. Dave in Green
When the team plays up to its full capabilities, the Zips are capable of blowing out teams like NIU. I dunno...this year's Zips squad doesn't seem to be capable of blowing out any team...at least one that doesn't rhyme with "schmilliken." You're right. With each passing game, my over-optimism about the potential of this edition of the Zips is harshly mocked by their on-court performance. With the NIU game they've proven once again that they are the weakest Zips team in the last six years. They're not a bad team, but just an average one. We fans have been spoiled to having at least slightly above average basketball teams under KD, so just average seems pretty crappy. Realistically, these Zips are not going to do anything extraordinary this season. The most I'm hoping for now is that they somehow squeak their way back into the MAC tournament championship game for the fifth straight year. They will not blow out any team along the way. But they could get lucky and win a few close ones. I'll reserve my optimism for next season.
