UAZipster0305
Moderators, can we lock this topic away? It is disgusting that with all the success we've had the past year that a topic about tOSU's failures is approaching or has exceeded the number of posts in the threads about the new stadium, NCAA Soccer Championship, and the MBB MACC and NCAA appearance.I hate OSU as much as the next Zips fan, but come on, this is our board. Where is Buckzip when some perspective is needed?

A thread about them IS relevant since we play them this year and I don't think its shameful that this thread has so many comments. However, this storyline has run its course and it is approaching the LeBron James 24/7 saturation level. Where is Buckzip when some perspective is needed?I'm here. I stop by to read this thread every few days to get a laugh. Like I said in an earlier post, this thread gets more replies than the Soccer team winning the NC and the basketball team in the NCAA tourney combined. That is pretty telling. I don't participate much in this for 2 reasons.1-Im not going to participate and give the haters more to bash. Haters are gunna hate. 2-I'm as upset with how Tressel handled this as anyone. I can't defend it, not should I.I just LOL at how butt hurt a few posters here are. The fact that this has been allowed to go on for this long is pretty telling about the mods here. Of course they use the excuse that this is an Akron opponent, but we all know that is a convenient load of crap. This would be here even if the 2 weren't playing. Like I said before, I am looking forward to the epic meltdown when they aren't punished as badly as those that follow the BSPN agenda machine think they should be. That will be good for another 25 -50 pages. LOL

Dave in Green
There's nothing different about tOSU fans that hasn't been expressed by fans of any school that has been caught by the NCAA with their hand in the cookie jar. USC fans were equally in denial about what the NCAA would do to their school relating to the Reggie Bush issue.Honestly, the ultra-rabid fans only have themselves to blame when they set themselves up for a big fall by being in a total state of denial. If your school gets caught cheating, just man up, admit it and move on. The more you deny it, the more those who weary of listening to the denials take delight in justice being served. Just keep listening to BSPN.It's only logical to think that if you are certain they won't be punished as bas as people think, then you must know how bad they are going to be punished. I'd just like to know what you know. I don't believe any of the death penality stuff, but it's going to be bad. Already lost the #1 player in Ohio to Michigan and the punishment has not been handed out yet. Interesting days ahead.

For years, they have done nothing but pump up that program. Now that OSU has been caught with their hand in the cookie jar, ESPN is now a bad network out to get OSU. Buckzip
And some of you wondered why I have ignored this thread. The group mob attacks of uninformed people started immediately. The hatred for OSU clouds any ability for them to have any objectivity. You hate OSU, which is fine, so you want to believe everything BSPN says. Now don't even say I defend OSU and have no objectivity. I have mentioned already I believe Tressel was wrong and had to go. I am very unhappy with his poor decisions in this matter. Funny, the OSU alums at BSPN are brought up. LOLDoes anyone remember any other former player at a school saying during a game on national TV that he wouldn't suggest any offensive players go to a specific school the way Herby did?Does anyone remember any other former players at a school working at ESPN having a flame war with a current school QB the way Herby did with Pryor? Does anyone else remember BSPN on the type of witch hunt they have had with OSU? Remember all the free car crap? You hear little about Auburn winning the NC with a bought and paid for player. You hear little about all of the crap going on with Oregon. USC didn't get near the attention that OSU is. Have you heard much about Boise State being in trouble? Nope. They are the media darling when things are going well though. Did anyone notice that all of the former players that have come out against Tressel were players before his time? You know, the guys that feel left out. Of the Tressel era players that were interviewed, only the ones that were in the doghouse were interviewed. You heard nothing on the network from all the players that praised what a great guy Tressel is/was to them. I don't remember the last time that ESPN had a headline and then a crawler announcing that a soon to be high school senior decommited from one school and committed to another. Do any of you remember that before? In case you didn't know, there is a B10 network. The B10 basically told BSPN to shove it. The SEC has a huge contract with BSPN as does Texas, as does the PAC10. Copy/paste if you dare. http://www.espncleveland.com/audiovault/pros.php go down to 7-12 where they are discussing OSU.What is the best way to show your dislke than to try to over compensate against the flagship program of the conference that just said FU to them? Yeah, I know, all paranoia and I'm just another OSU fan which makes everyone hate OSU fans bla, bla, bla. I'm done here now. Let the mob attacks continue. Dr Z
You heard nothing on the network from all the players that praised what a great guy Tressel is/was to them. How much praise should we give a coach with a long history of cheating? I'm sure some convicted murders are very nice to a many people they come across in their life. Do we go out an interview all those people? No? Do you know why? They broke the law, just like Tressel broke the rules. Now they have to pay. Columbus State gets tons of publicity because they have tons of fans. Let the mob attacks continue.Maybe I'm as drunk as you were when you wrote this (I'm really drunk right now), but this post is complete gibberish. Watch out for those black helicopters!!!!!!You have been made a fool of by tOSU BuckZip. That pill must be pretty hard to swallow. Poop happens.Tressel was a con man. Con men are successful not because they are good at running a con. They are good because people want to believe the con. (Don't let your kids read any further). A first or second grade kid knows it is impossible for a person to fly around the world and deliver toys to the entire world in one night, but they believe. They believe because they want to believe. tOSU fans wanted to believe the "God and family" nonsense Tressel was spewing. BuckZip was sucked in to it because he wanted to be sucked in. In defense of BuckZip, almost an entire state was sucked in. Now, they are lining up for an even bigger con man than Tressel....Urban Meyer (sp?). The guy had multiple problems in his short time at Florida, but he is the great white hope many from Ohio want to see. In reality, tOSU fans don't care if there are problems as long as the team wins. They will look past anything. That's fine, but they try to hold themselves above all other fans....In fact, they are worse.I'm not ashamed of believing in Santa when I was young. tOSU fans shouldn't feel guilty in believing in Tressel. He was the ultimate con man. Unfortunately, they aren't six years old....well, they believed in Tressel like they were six years old. tOSU fans must feel really stupid right now. They should. I don't know exactly what the NCAA defines "Lack of Institutional Control" as, but when a coach is written up by the University and continues down the same road in an even worse manner, it would seem to me that institution is having trouble keeping control over a program.Tressel thought he was untouchable. lance99
Let me get this straight. You are saying it is OK to lie to the president of tOSU, your direct supervisor (the AD) AND the NCAA if you have a potential national championship season ahead of you? On what planet is this OK? It has nothing to do with tOSU. At any other school, in any other job, these actions would get an employee fired. Only at tOSU could this go on. The SEC has nothing on tOSU.Don't worry, if this article is true, it means that the knew that it was going on for years.

Dave in Green
Don't worry, if this article is true, it means that the knew that it was going on for years. If that Columbus Dispatch article is true, it's a fascinating documentation of how the siren song of football fame can lead an institution of higher learning astray. In so many words, the story documents how Tressel was seriously admonished for shortcomings by one athletic director, and then allowed to slide under the radar by the new athletic director, who effectively ended the paper trail. Yet every other coach and executive at tOSU continued to be evaluated on paper, and their trails can be traced in detail from their personnel files. Why would the football coach be exempt from this? Tressel had a documented problem of reporting violations in a timely manner, and the powers at tOSU had a choice of trying to resolve the problem or cover it up. Did tOSU make football success a higher priority than integrity? Had football success become more important to tOSU's public image and fund-raising than education? If this is all true, it is the very definition of loss of institutional control, which would result in the severest of penalties from the NCAA.
