Tickets?

Okay, now that the fixture is set. Those of you with experience in NCAA Tournament games, where do you go about getting tickets? Does UofA usually get tickets? Being on spring break and only 6 hours from bean town really makes me want to go. Stubhub has tickets for either of the three sessions from $80 and up.

Heard through the grapevine that UA's full ticket allocation is less than 400 total. Hard to believe so few tickets allocated for such a large facility. But, if true, after the players' families receive their tickets and the high rollers get theirs on the basis of monetary contributions, there will not likely be any left for the common folk.

I found the following posting from the Gonzaga website concerning last year's ticket allocation:

Tickets for the NCAA Tournament are distributed in two ways. Each participating institution is allocated 550 tickets for the each first and second round session in which it plays, 1,250 tickets for the third and fourth rounds and 3,500 tickets for the Final Four. The remaining tickets are sold by the host institution for each location. Typically, the host institution will sell out of these tickets far in advance of the tournament pairings being set. If a tournament location is sold out, participating institutions are limited to their allotment of seats and no additional seats will be made available for public sale.

From what I was told by UA Ticket Office staff: The university is initially allotted 350 tickets

with an option for 200 more. That accounts for the 550 mentioned earlier in this thread.

Keep in mind two things. First, these 550 tickets are a block of seats usually close to your team.

Second, ticket agencies such as Stub Hub have qualities of tickets for each session Just be

prepared to pay more than the face value of the ticket.

At Portland, which was sold out for the first session, there were scalpers asking about double

the face value. Of course, Portland is in the sphere of Gonzaga faithful. Unfortunately, Chicago

is nearly on the campus of Notre Dame. Chicago has a couple of million Irish fans.

For those planning to make the trip to Chicago you have to plan carefully for driving in morning

rush hour traffic in Chicago. Chicago traffic is not Akron traffic. You can get stuck for hours.

My neighbor has 4 lower reserved seats in the center section. That would require a $500 per seat donation to the ZAC. If he doesn't get any, I don't have a chance. I've been a season ticket holder for 38 years, but I stopped sitting in the lower level about 7 years ago. I do make a $500 contribution to keep my Football ticket location, so that will help. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I broke down and bought some directly. They are not in the Akron section of course, but at least they are in the stadium. If I can get the Akron ones, I will send these over to Stub Hub. I am going to be there one way or the other.

You bought tickets from the United Center? I thought they did not go on sale individually until friday? Will Call pick up? Price range?

According to the ticket office, the allotment tickets are located in several (4?) different sections for the game. Some are down on the 100 level, some in the 200 level, and some in the upper 300 level, supposedly each located above the other. Ticket department said big donors get the best tickets and down from there.

If you want to know which section you're in, tough. "Ticket manager already left with the tickets."

Interesting, because this was NOT how it was in Portland. All of the Zips fans were together in the 100 section. I guess I'll see what I have when I get there!
