psc2009
Here is TMD's take on what UMass joining means to both the MAC and its newest team. I'm hoping to see BGSU move to the West and I'd like to see a 9-game MAC slate. My only concern is that it could hurt even more for bowl bids to only play three nonconference games. http://themacdaily.com/index.php?news&nid=
eguins
Their massive crowds will fit right in with the MAC.. 2010: 13,005/game. 2009: 10,887/game. 2008: 12,383/game.
lance99
What a joke! I said from the start it should be all or nothing if they join the MAC. This shows that the conference has no power over anyone who wants to join this mess. Unless the know that are being used and do not care about it. This is not good. Now we are a "step up" conference with no chance.
akronzips71
UMASS is only an hour and a half away. I can go to a Zips game!
zip37
The MAC prostitutes itself again
akzipper
I wish Temple and UMass could be brought on for all sports, instead of just football. Get rid of two of the weaker MAC schools then replace with more respectable programs.
MontrealExposloveZippy
I agree. I wish UMASS was joining the MAC in all sports and the Zips moving to C-USA or A-10.

Although they are a good basketball conference, we'd have to either drop down in football or become independent. There's no A-10 football...But sadly I see us in the MAC for a very long time... skip-zip
My guess would be that there was probably a 1 in 100 chance that Temple or UMass had any thoughts of moving both football and basketball to the MAC.

It's crazy to have expected them to. This is great for football. Let the burden of getting MAC b-ball to prominence fall on the shoulders of the Zips. ZachTheZip
Adding UMass in football I think gives the MAC more leverage against Temple if they ever decide to force them to crap or get off the pot. They're both in the A-10, so both leaving that conference at the same time is a little easier. Now I don't see it happening until all their other football options are eliminated. zipboy
UMass for football is good. I prefer they not come in for bball. The league is only getting one bid. I would rather be better than everyone and keep going to the dance. If UMass joined in bball, the league would not jump over the Horizon or MVC and they were 1 bid leagues last year.
