Just to wet the appetite ahead of lunch, here is Otto Moser's MENU :CK_brew:
I worked downtown Cleveland in the mid to late 80's and a group of us would go to Otto's every few weeks. They were known for their chili I think. We would have gone more but you had to get there early...or have a long wait. LOL I think I will stop by just to have lunch there sometime soon just to relive a moment of the past. You will not be disappointed in the food if you choose this place...but it does seem a bit far from CSU.

Are you basing this on your previous experiences there in the 80's? Because, although I've never been there, it appears as though it may have moved to the Theatre District in recent years. If you "Google" their address (1425 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44115), it doesn't look far to the Wolstein Center at all.

Great quotes. I'd seen many, but not all, of them. If he were only alive today, he'd be the star of Comedy Central. He and Mae West left big impressions on me as a kid when I watched their old movies on TV.
Come on Dave, you know TV wasn't invented yet when you were a child!

Otto Moser's is exactly .3 mile from the Wolstein Center. For perspective, that's the same distance as walking from the JAR to Infocision Stadium.Anyone who has a problem with walking that distance may be in need of medical attention. :) And, contrary to Hilltopper's assessment of my age, I have no problem walking many miles.

Winkin Lizard is pretty large. It would fit quite a few people in there.Becky's is a college spot, but locals stop by but the place is small and dirty.Bricco is expensive and not a pre-game place of sorts. And the walk is only a couple minutes from the Wolstein to Winkin, Boneyard, Nick's, etc...etc...

Only difference, in Cleveland that walk involves traversing a gauntlet of exhibitionist, hookers, and thieves. :)

Winking Lizard is exactly .5 mile from the Wolstein Center -- less than a round-trip walk from the JAR to Infocision Stadium and back.I figure it would be safe to go as a group with Captain Kangaroo leading. If anyone threatens the group, CK can threaten back that he has the power to kick them off his internet forum if they don't abide by his unwritten rules. Meanwhile, the rest of us can be proactively running to find the police to help save the lives of those who'd dare to challenge CK. ;)

You'll never make it to the game. Kangaroos are very immobile in the snow with the giant feet and all. He will be falling down the whole way.

Yes...I am basing it on previous experiance...and faulty memory. I lived on E14 and worked in the Terminal Tower complex...a freaking cold walk in the winter. But I loved those 2 years. Glad you mentioned it moved...I would be looking up and down the wrong streets and kicking myself for not taking my Ginko ;-)

Count me in where ever you decide. It might be a good idea to meet before the game at Otto's and after at WL. Just can't imagine Otto's open late night. But...obviously I have no clue.

Cleveland State fan here, and I just wanted to throw my .02 cents out there.First off, the Vikes schedule is close to being finalized and the date for the Zips Vikes game should be released in short order. I would expect a November date. As for meet up spots, places like the Winking Lizard, Becky's, and Bricco are all solid. But please for your own good avoid The Rascal House and Peabody's. The Rascal House has gone downhill big time in recent years and Peabody's has been a dump for years. I am happy that we have renewed our basketball series with both Akron and Can't State. It only makes sense. I have been calling for a MAC/Horizon League Shootout for years, but I doubt it will ever happen. This game between the Vikes and Zips should be a good one. Yes, we have lost Norris, but we have a lot coming back. Hoops season will be here before you know it.

Thanks for your input, Magnus. If you come to Akron for the CSU games, I'm sure we can help you find watering holes to consider as well as those to avoid.
I came down last year for the Vikes win right before Thanksgiving. I was the only CSU fan in the lower bowl and definitely got some dirty looks. I made an appointment with Luigi's Pizza and left happy.

2 out of 3 ain't bad.

Another option I have a van that can take five other people. We could get a couple of vehicles and car pool from W3rd or wherever to the game, and back. Hell I could run some guys up from campus or a shopping center. Bring a DVD to watch on the way. Depending on when the game is scheduled, we may not want to walk a half mile with the weather.

Could just meet at the Lizard in Independence and drive right to the Convo.
I say we meet at the Lizard in Boston Heights...then hit the one in Macedonia...then the one in Independence...then the one across from The Q...then stagger to the Convo. Who's with me?
is this on a bus??? ...or are we drinking and driving???

Maybe some will want to foget about the game and just go bar hopping. As for me, I'm just looking for a place near the Convo to get a bite to eat and a beer or two before the game.
Again....count me in. I really don't care what venue is chosen...I just want to gear up with like minded fans before the game. And...if we blow them out...maybe have a beer after. If a multiple venues are chosen....I will catch up with you at the last one.
