skip-zip
The first thing I noticed was the words "New Approach" Isn't that contrary to what we had been hearing from the coach?
jupitertoo
Today's ABJ Thanks B&G! This summarizes the recent iCoach video and then some. Certainly a better start to fall camp than down in Huntington, W.V., where 10 of 29 signees didn't show up and have been dropped from the roster. K92
I think the "new approach" doesn't go any deeper than split practice sessions.
Dr Z
Richard Hall left the program for personal reasons Now we have an answer.
Captain Kangaroo
Richard Hall left the program for personal reasons Now we have an answer. You always wonder how a "West Virginia HS Defensive POTY" ends up with the Zips. Now you know...he has "baggage." Add him to the long list of too-good-too-be-true Zip recruits. Marcus Sanders...EJ Lilley...Nate Robinson...David Harvey...Derrick Tarver...
johnnyzip84
Ianello does mention on the latest video that Hall had a conversation with his position coach (presumably Latina) and said he wanted to go closer to home.

Since he was suspended for the final 2 games of last season, I'll question that one.
GoZips
Split practice sessions is the most intelligent thing that I-coach has instituted thus far. Good move.

Maybe he was more willing to buy into the program in the off-season?
GP1
You always wonder how a "West Virginia HS Defensive POTY" ends up with the Zips. Now you know...he has "baggage." I'm a little confused. Some may think baggage is some sort of emotional problem. However, when I think of a kid from WV and baggage, a stick with a red rag full of his personal belongings slung over his shoulder comes to mind. Please clarify. ZachTheZip
Any word on Tyrell Goodman? It would be pretty sad if Ianello lost a signed recruit from his own high school.

Marcus Sanders...EJ Lilley...Nate Robinson...David Harvey...Derrick Tarver... Or maybe that was the problem. He was a DE and Akron made him a TE. Maybe he wasn't on board with that. Unless you know of baggage, it is just an assumption on your part and kind of unfair to the kid.

The kid had accolades that typically net a "bigger-school" offer. But the Zips were his only D-1 opportunity. Sometimes, grades...sometimes bad attitude...sometimes an arrest...all those scenarios are familiar to upper-tier players that land on MAC rosters. You know that, GP1. He was 17 when he signed with the Zips. Maybe hanging around 23 year old players was too much for him? Maybe all the losing beat him down. Who knows. I do know he was suspended from the program last season. He was an impressive player in his time with the Zips. He showed good size, and good hands. He seemed to be capable of living up to his billing. It is a shame he is gone. He had a lock on the TE position for 3 years.

It's just a little confusing sometimes when anything from West Virginia is involved. It could be a mental problem or it could be a suitcase consisting of a stick and a piece of cloth. I never assume anything when it comes to West Virginia.
skip-zip
I think the "new approach" doesn't go any deeper than split practice sessions. As a fan who just had to endure a 1-11 season, I was just thrilled to hear him say that something was being done differently.

Dr Z
Coach needs to open his eyes. What a great opportunity to learn about the program. What a great opportunity WASTED! "We're in helmets, we're going to wear shoulder pads, split squad, maximize..." Save it. B-O-R-I-N-G...Can somebody do there job and get this guy to tell the fans something that gets them excited about the season. Can we hire Emory? He knows how to fire up fans, you know why, because he is fired up. Rob needs to learn how KD excites the fan when someone puts the camera on him. I love listening to KD, I hate listening to Rob. At the minimum, he did say Go Zips?!?

Thankfully, soccer and basketball seasons overlap with football.
ZachTheZip
Coach needs to open his eyes. If he opens his eyes, he'll forget all three of plays (the entirety of his offensive playbook) that he has tattooed under his eyelids.

Halfback from Eastern PA, circa 1981-82. Runner who broke Tony Dorsett's HS rushing records (may have been at Upper Darby HS, too). Akron was in play because the kid was listed as 5-4. Couple weeks before school, word come down, he joined the Army. Now, let me tell ya bout Derrick Tarver... He played, excelled, but played for the wrong coach at the wrong time!
