What's the deal here... to be honest if LeSean "Shady" McCoy (4 stars) and David Harvey (4 stars) sign with Akron tomorrow it would really be huge. Have heard Harvey's a lock for Akron... but jury is still out on McCoy. This class could be the start of something great.Just curious... was Harvey's QB in h.s. Anthony Morrelli?

Scout has McCoy at 5 stars, and I tend to agree with that ranking in doing some research on this guy. He reminds me a lot of DeAngelo Williams who we saw in Detroit. I think he would actually be a BETTER fit in our offense than Wells, because he's fast as lightening and has great hands, which is crucial as often as we use our RB's in the passing game. If we land Harvey and McCoy this is going to be huge.

The reason Harvey doesn't list Akron as a choice is that he was a 2005 recruit, not this year. According to information I dug up, he went the JUCO route. If he comes here it appears that he will be a JUCO transfer.

Accoring to Rivals.com David ihas signed his letter of intent to be a Zip.He has dropped to a 3 star only becuase he did not play football last year. So I guess he did not go JUCO so I think he will have 4 years at Akron!!!!

Confirmed by Rivals.Akron picks up top receiver Pittsburgh Penn Hills receiver David Harvey was one of the most heavily recruited players last year and was ranked as the nation's No. 16 receiver. However, he didn't have his academics in order and was forced to sit out this season to get back on track. That has been accomplished, and he's heading to Akron. Harvey's family confirmed that he signed a national letter of intent with the Zips early this morning, giving Akron another major boost in what looks to be the top class in the MAC. Harvey is 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds. By sitting out a season and not playing a year, according to a Rivals.com policy, Harvey's ranking is one star level lower than what he was in the last year.

I also checked this out since some bad info has been posted recently. Way to go coaching staff. We also moved up two spots to 62 on the Rivals team recruiting chart. Ohio is a distant third in MAC recruiting. Go zips! :macc:

This is a relly nice pick up for the Zips. His clips on rivals look very impressive. Plus, we know the talent that comes out of Penn Hills year in and year out. Hopefully, we can get one or 2 more really good ones before the day finishes.

so it is true, wow. I'd like to know why he made Akron his choice.
He could go to Pitt and play for a crappy coach like Wannstadt, losing to MAC doormats year in year out and going 3-8. Or, play for the MAC champs and train in a facility that second to none. And, get a great education to boot. There will be a lot more like him in the future. This is the tip of the iceberg.

Wow, hard to believe that LeSean McCoy was almost a Zip. Imagine how different this program would be if Harvey and McCoy would have had a couple of years together.

Got a little time on your hands, eh? ;)

I love looking at old posts, gives you good perspective on posters who have a grasp on whats going on.

I have a thread topic in my head dealing with "Homers vs Realest." You'll see a distinction if you go back just one year.

Was googleing some things and this came up...David Harvey was something special though, it's too bad that never worked out.

No doubt. Was there ever a Zip who could make big plays look so effortless?

And to Dr Z's point: johnnyzip84 = homer

I had this elaborate long winded thesis written up to try to get you to admit that, such a waste of my time.

You have given me an idea for a new angle though. confused0006.gif

It was the beginning of the end for JD. Jacq had the accuracy to deliever the ball to him after Getsy. He would have been an NFL player all the way. Oh well, life goes on....
