Dave in Green
We've seen the occasional mention of Zeke on the mid-major sites. MDZip
I was just watching College GameDay and they used a quote from Ezekiel 20:29 for the LSU-Alabama game. I think it is far more appropriate for our Mr. Marshall. "Then I said to them: what is the high place whereunto you go?" We also need a cool nickname for him. Since he is already a Marshall and patrols the middle - maybe "the Sheriff"? We gave one to Chisholm, we need one for Zeke. Go Zeke!Go Zips! Of course Jared Sulivan of OSU and Tu Holloway of Xavier were as well, I am sure they will fix that oversight shortly and make an all-Ohio one. Seriously though, really impressive the company he is being mentioned in. Can't wait to see the ESPN game on the 9th. Stay out of foul trouble big fella! That's a good sign as well, however I would hope we could get a higher seed.
Dave in Green
It's been discussed in other threads that several tournament field projections, including the one on CBS Sports, show the Zips as the MAC representative. This is pretty standard for the smaller conferences. They just pencil in the previous season's small conference representatives until current season results start coming in. I guess a #14 seed is at least one step better than last season's #15 seed. But these projected teams and seedings will be changing from week to week all season. What I want to know is where the heck is GameChngr44? I expected she would have discovered this thread by now and be doing a little celebrating.

Read it again at the end of the season. Repeat this for five straight years. See if your inclined to continue doing it the sixth year. Please report back in 2016 with your research. Dave in Green
All the starters but Zeke have nicknames -- Q, Rico, the Serb and Nitro. Two famous Zekes from the NBA Hall of Fame are Isiah Thomas and Jerry West (Zeke from Cabin Creek). Neither of them had Zeke in their formal names. They were adopted as nicknames. Zeke doesn't need a nickname. He's just Zeke -- the real Zeke.

dboze
Here's a great review of the Akron/Miss St Bigs: 1-on-1: Renardo Sidney vs. Zeke Marshall. We all know who won....YES!! 1-on-1: Sidney vs Marshall
Dave in Green
What a great, detailed analysis. The summary is awesome: We basically knew what to expect from Marshall as a stopper, and he still managed to exceed the hype with an impressive performance against a power conference frontcourt. ..... These two players are clearly on the NBA’s radar, and the pressure to perform will only intensify as the year presses on. But on this night in Mississippi, it was the small-school big man named Zeke who stole the show.
Dave in Green
Here's a short take from the middle of a roundup article in Dime that mentions last night's game and pays a nice compliment to Zeke as well as Q: Remember how we said Mississippi State was a sleeper to watch? Forget it. Pretend we never said it. They were awful last night, completely lackadaisical in losing to Akron 68-58. All you needed to know was to check out Renardo Sidney three minutes into the second half, standing at the top of the key and refusing to move or bend his knees or pretty much do anything but look like a pole. He’s just looked out of shape. Akron has a few players though: Quincy Diggs (19 points) is a very nice looking wing player, and Zeke Marshall (10 points, five blocks) is like the college version of Tyson Chandler. akronzips71
Zeke is definitely going to be on the NBA radar this year, ESPECIALLY if we get some good post season play. We better hope he does not enter the draft early, we don't have a replacement lined up for next year.
