Pick over or under and why. I'm going to pick under, but I'm not confident about my bet. I thnik they are going to take their time and do a better job of making a decision. akzipper Posted November 28, 2011 Report Share Posted November 28, 2011 I was thinking somewhere around Dec 20th? There are a lot of "better" coaching opportunities out there so far (Illinois, Arizona State, Arizona, Kansas, Memphis, UAB) and not many good candidates available. Regardless of timing, they all have a better shot at landing a coach than us and thus have an advantage. Once the pieces start to fall it will become harder for us to scramble and find candidates, meaning it will take more time. The coaching carousel is like the NFL Draft, and we are the team picking 32nd. Gotta sit back and wait to see who everyone else gets, and finally end up getting the "Who's That?" signing we experienced two years ago... Many of the candidates that Haywood beat out were on the list the second time. These candidates were already vetted so the process on those candidates was quick. The same will hold true for Akron. Tressel will take little vetting....it is more a legal issue and I am sure they have already gone down that path. Winters and Fickell have both been vetted so the process for them will be quick. The 3-5 new guys will be where the time is spent. But my sense is they want to get this done quickly so the new guy can get on the street recruiting. But they have to make sure they do their due diligence. Here is my wish list in order: 1. Tressel A+ 2. Winters A 3. Chuck Martin A- 4. Matt Campbell B+ 5. I sent in my little email to TW during the last coaching search and threw my hat into the ring for Chuck Martin. Though he's completely unrelated to Faust & iCoach, I wonder if simply the fact he's now @ Notre Dame would hurt him? Could we possibly even consider yet another ND coach?
