The Hip Zip
Another tough one. The Raiders only loss has been a double OT tilt with the highly touted Belmont Bruins. They beat UCLA. What once appeared as a possible soft spot on the schedule is going to be a supreme test. Not sure if we are ready for this team on their own floor. Valpo Zip
If we don't win this game, we can kiss the 20 wins/season streak goodbye. Just saying!
lance99
Anyone still think KD's scheduling is too soft? It is better than the past few years. Would you rather have the schedule that Miami had last year?
Dave in Green
Not to minimize the importance of any game, but a loss to MTSU would give the Zips a 3-4 record. Last season the Zips were 4-4 after their first 8 games and 10-8 after their first 18 games. Everyone was crying about how their 20-game per season win streak was toast. The Zips finished the season at 23-13. Never write off a KD team early.

Although a few more OOC losses will make a 20 win campaign extremely difficult given the strength of the MAC East in 2011-2012.
skip-zip
Anyone still think KD's scheduling is too soft? I think any schedule that does not give you a chance at an at-large bid, if you win most of the games, is too soft. And I've never waivered on that, and I'll keep saying it. Dave in Green
In addition to their 7-1 record, MTSU is 3rd in the country in team field goal percentage with an impressive 54.1%. But all of that only earns them an RPI of #215 -- way behind the Zips' current #111. We all know that RPI isn't so accurate this early in the season. But on RPI alone, the Zips are favored. Discussing exactly how many wins it would take for each level of the many different potential variations of SOS could result in a discussion running on into infinity, which it probably will. johnnyzip84
So is this guy the son of the original "lose some weight" Kerry Hammonds? Edit: Here is confirmation that he is! Dave in Green
DIG- Do you have anything better to do than to spend your entire day making worthless posts? FOUR in one thread, please. Breaking bread with Buckzip would be more enjoyable. I feel your pain, Zips Win!, I really do. Like you, I find a number of posts on ZN.o to be annoying. The ones that bother me the most are the angry, negative, insulting attacks, regardless of who or what they are directed against. On the other hand, I really enjoy civil, productive conversation with the many positive, thoughtful ZN.o posters such as almost everyone who has posted in this thread. So you and I appear to share a common problem for which I believe there is a reasonable solution: We need to learn to ignore the posts (and posters) that annoy us and focus on the posts (and posters) who better reflect our personal thoughts on what a friendly forum for Akron Zips fans should represent. Doug Snyder PM's someone to "F*CK OFF", and he's still posting? No cries from Hilltopper or DIG about any AUP violation? Where is the consistency from you guys? If you want me to ban ZipsWin!, tell me. I'll do it. Doug will go too. You guys seem to know who should post, and who should not. Just say the word. I'm waiting. Dave in Green
No one has done anything here that rises to the level of being banned. I support the right of Zips Win! and Doug Snyder and anyone else to say whatever they want to say within the rules of the forum. All anyone should ever expect on a forum like this is clarity of rules and consistent enforcement.
KAjunRaider
So is this guy the son of the original "lose some weight" Kerry Hammonds? Edit: Here is confirmation that he is! His dad was one helluva tough guy to get out of the paint. Sat behind Big Kerry the other night at Austin Peay. In big Kerry's OVC days, we had another post player that was bigger than Hammonds (Dwayne "Bam Bam" Rainey) and they were called the "Twin Tanks" when in the game together. Rainey wasn't near the ball player that Hammonds, Sr, was, however. What is Joe Jakubick (sp?) up to nowadays ?
KAjunRaider
By the way, I don't think Hammonds, Jr, will be playing in the game on Sunday. He has a stress fracture of some sort and will be out at least one more game.
