Sorry, but if we wanted week old news, we could look in local news archives. As a former employee of a mostly student-run UA news organization (The Buchtelite), I appreciate the effort, but The Buchtelite, ZTV, etc. never provide up to date news.

Personally, I still enjoy this info being posted.

That's fair. It makes me happy that a few people enjoy the hard work that goes into the student news organizations on campus. Sorry if I'm a bit jaded.

It seems everyone is bitter and miserable

Might be because nobody really knows what is going to happen. Here is some more speculation. Maybe the new coach hasn't been named yet because he is still coaching somewhere. That would not likely include a coordinator because most of them can levae as soon as they accept a head coaching job. Pure speculation mind you.

Another possibility may be since YouTube failed so bad last time, this time he is getting so much input from others (Tressel, Johnson, and others named by various news articles) it will take a long time to get through everyone's opinion/suggestion. YouTube sent me nice (mass) email this morning assuring me that he will "secure a terrific coach." So I'm not worried.

I like what GP1 typed earlier, "Fire fast, hire slow."

JT 2 UCLA OMG LOL

PS Good job getting ZTV on YouTube, you'll get more views from ZN now. I put a link at the bottom of your post to show you how to embed them here. I did this one for you.

Thanks for the link. Everyone should read it and think about Zips football since right before Faust was hired. In 1987, we had our first D-1A season so we were like a start up company. We should have been quick to fire coaches and slower to hire them over the years.

It's hard to break the culture of anything. The culture in college athletics is to bring in a new AD who hires a buddy to take over Failing Sports Team X and turn it around. They think about other candidates for about 60 seconds and hire their friends. It's a horrible thing to do, but in college athletics, everyone does it.

Here's a rumor for you: we may have looked at Tim Beck, Nebraska's Offensive Coordinator.

Like him. An Akron kind of coach.

Like him too.

I like the names that are popping up. they are looking on the offensive side of the ball and seem to be looking with someone with roots in either the MAC or Ohio....or both :thumb:

Nebraska has a pretty bad offense. Of course that may just be what style Pelini wants though.

Point taken, and it looks like they took a slight step back in that regards with Beck in charge in 2011. It's Martinez who is pretty imaginative :D

If we're looking for a coordinator who will (eventually) score lots of points, put an exciting team on the field, and (hopefully) put people in the Info, I still like Campbell the best of the names I've seen so far.

I like Campbell too. But he is very young and it is doubtful that he would have a list of contacts to put together a great staff. Who ever gets Campbell will put in a year or two while he gets up to speed. Any first year head coach will be learning on the job. I am not sure we have the patience for that at this time.

The guys I think are ready for the job are:

1. Pat Hill

2. Paul Winters

3. Chuck Martin

The next group of guys with potential (possibly more than the first group) are:

1. Matt Campbell

2. Mike Bajakian

I am sure there will be more names come up...I am open to someone I have never heard of.

Can't go wrong with a Mooney guy.

The more I read about Matt Campbell, the more I like him. Everything about his past suggests that he understands Ohio, understands the MAC, and is a winner wherever he goes.

At the very least, he would bring an exciting offense to UA. Losing is always painful. But losing while scoring a lot of points is at least a little more entertaining. That alone would give me the patience to wait for him to put it all together at UA.

There may be a better choice out there. But I would not be unhappy if Campbell gets the call.

In looking into Beck, I, of course, learned that Nebraska's HC, DC & OC are all from Mooney. That is pretty awesome.

+1.

Additionally, with Campbell being a Mount guy, I'm sure he also understands defense. MUC almost always has an incredible defense. Howevrer, most people don't know it because MUC's defense is always overshadowed by their even more incredible offense.

Buuuuut, you've got to have the horses to plow the field. The first couple (few?) of years are going to be tough no matter who gets the job.

No doubt, B&G. But here is where the comment from Beckman about how he thinks Matt is the best recruiter in the MAC hits home. It's one thing for some ND homer like Lemming to call a guy a great recruiter, but it's an entirely different situation when your boss (who probably would prefer to keep you) says it. And it's not like Matt would be recruiting a different type of player at UA vs Toledo. Does he have the organizational skills, like Doug alluded to? That's the $64,000 question.
