UA-Can't State Game Thread

I figured this game could use it's own thread. According to Rasor, this is George Thomas' first Akron-Can't game. Thomas has done a pretty good job so far covering the Zips. Still, don’t you think a replacement writer should have some exposure to the teams they’re about to start covering?

Go Zips! :screwks::champs:

That was goaltending, wasn't it?

STO showed some replays. It looked pretty clean. The "non-foul" on Abreu was definitely a foul though. As was the assault on Zeke on that rebound. The STO commentators keep talking about Can't State's "presence." That must mean they're playing thug ball and getting away with it.

Akron needs to quit trying so hard in the second half though. They don't seem to know whether they want to play outside or inside.

It's not thug ball, it's being physical. We need to man up and answer.

I was a bit nervous when he didn't really do much in the first half...but wow he tore it up in the 2nd! What 21 points? Harney should be starting vs. Ball State. Just goes to show if he gets PT he will lead the team in scoring!

I disagree. I like bringing him off the bench. Give the starters a chance to establish themselves(how well did Chauncey play? Wow) and then have a guy like Nik to give the team an INCREDIBLE spark off the bench. This team is one of the more skilled I've seen since I've been at Akron since 2006.

Dambrot has a bit of a quandry: this team is significantly faster and more athletic with Zeke on the bench.

Watching on the tube, I also noted that we made our run and pulled away with Big Zeke on the bench. Treadwell is also much, much more of a hard arse than good ol' Zeke, which may be what we really need against a bunch of thugs like Can't.

I am really starting to love this guy Harney. If he keeps it up, he will start getting national notice. He has the slickest inside moves I can ever remember seeing in a Zip. If he was a starter (he WILL be one soon enough) I think he will average over 20 PPG.

And he is really stealing Q's thunder! And Q has lots of thunder of his own.
