Zipgrad01
smdh. press conference cuts out right in the middle to show the JAR and static radio. Top notch UA! That's about par for the course.
Zipmeister
Its impossible for him to be a freshman when he spent his freshman and sophomore year at WSU. Does he have to sit out this year is my question. How about Deon'Tae Moore?!?! Didnt know how much of a stud this guy was. "First-Team All-Northeast Ohio, All-Northeast Ohio Defensive Player of the Year, first-team all-state, All-State Division II Defensive Player of the Year ... Second-Team Division II and City Series Defensive Player of the Year as a senior ... as a senior, posted 98 tackles (56 solo), 10 sacks, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one interception … had 12 receptions for 253 yards and two touchdowns, and gained 27 yards rushing on four carries … as a junior, had 73 tackles, 16 tackles-for-loss, 14 sacks, forced five fumbles and recovered two … blocked three kicks and one punt … had six pass breakups … received Associated Press All-Ohio and All-Northeast Ohio Inland District honors in Division II as a junior and senior … born Nov. 10, 1994." Ya think? Was watching the NLOI Bowden signing show. Think there should be a policy that you can't intereupt coverage with the womens basketball game unless there are over 30 people at the game. LZIp
Anyways, I really am coming to like this recruiting class. Lot of guys with potential, and some guys that should be able to come in and play right away. I can see the light at the end of this long, dark tunnel! I was glad TB touched on the guys that grey-shirted last season. Mizell should be eligible this season as long as he graduates JC. Really wish I could be hearing what TB is saying right now though....

I couldn't get the stream at all while I was at home - just kept showing me the little swirl indicating it's still loading (does that thing have a name?). Now I'm away from the computer (posting from my iPhone). Does anyone know if GoZips.com plans on archiving the presser?
Zipgrad01
Hopefully UA puts a link up with the full broadcast so we can see the Q&A portion. I really like the class too, and I really like the fact that a few of the guys that I really liked last year (Mills, etc..) are going to be on the team and that they had a year to mature. LZIp
What did he say concerning last year's grey shirts? Just showed some highlights on them and talked about each one (Same as he did for each new recruit). Was pleased to see the DE transfer from CSU was still on the team. LZIp
It seemed almost half of these guys were committed to a program in an auto-bid conference at some point in time. WVU, a few from Cinci, WSU, Kansas, Arizona, FSU, and the Lauro kid had good interest from multiple BCS programs until his injury. Believe TB said he will be grey-shirted. Big Zip
I have HD footage of my daughter playing every sport she has been and just playing in the yard. How is it that HS recruiting footage makes the Zabruder film look like high quality?

LZIp
Just watched the rest of the PC and found it interesting that there is still another possibility that a transfer or two can come in and play right away.

Any chance you can put a highlight film of your daughter together for the Ken+ football staff?

I attended and this was one of my major questions (the grey shirts from last year). Kevin Mills, Stargell and a wideout (I want to say Josh Smith) are on the film and on the team. The O Lineman from Roosevelt was a non-qualifier so don't know his status yet. I know there were a couple of others from last year but I couldn't recall their names - should have been better prepared. Reading between the lines and my bet only - The OL from Firestone will transfer here.

TB mentioned that several area players (and he made the distinction that this does not even count possible players from Stark county) would be joining the program as preferred walk-ons over the next few weeks. I think (my guess only) WR Fransohn Bickley from St V could very well be one of these guys. Overall, I am pretty happy with this class. I think it fills a lot of needs on both lines and linebacker, and has several athletes who should help with the high-octane attack and provide a major upgrade to the return game. Throw in a QB for the future and this class hits all the right spots for me. Now we'll see how they all pan out.
ZZZips
A little off topic but I couldn't resist posting a comment on the Kansas Jayhawk recruiting class. From the Kansas City Star; " The Jayhawks signed 17 junior-college transfers in its 25-member class. They came from junior colleges from across the country, from California to Mississippi, Arizona to New York with Kansas and Iowa in between. After a 1-11 season in Weis’ first year, the Jayhawks needed a talent upgrade — immediately." I think the team would see a greater impact if Weis and Ianello resigned and KU went after high school recruits.

Blue & Gold
I really like this class. Considering we're coming off 3 consecutive 1-11 season, I love this class. I think the fact that LB's Jon Shelby and C.J. Mizell should be eligible to play next season is huge. Also, the signing of JUCO DT Keontae Hollis is huge - I've been looking into him & the guy's a big, strong, mean, aggressive, hard-working stud. We were in so many tight games last year where we just couldn't overcome our lack of depth. Since we've now got Keontae Hollis, C.J. Mizell & Jon Shelby in the box, I'm going to say that the key to us going bowling next year is how DT Lavonne Gauthney pans out. If he turns out to be a player, that would give us 4 solid DT's. IMHO, that's where we lost a number of games last year - Cody & Caponi are very good, but by the end of games they were simply gassed. Our front seven has a lot of potential: DE------------------DT------------DT------------DE Presley-----------Grice--------Caponi---------J. Turner C.J. James-------Hollis-------Gauthney--------??? -------------------J. Price ---------LB-----------------LB---------------LB ------Shelby-------------Mizell------------March -----J. Brown----------K. Baines--------J. Williams ----D. Moore-------------Rizzo------------J. Lane
GalleyBoy
Where does our class rank within the MAC? I saw Rivals has Toledo as the #1 MAC class, but haven't seen much else conference wide.
Captain Kangaroo
Where does our class rank within the MAC? I saw Rivals has Toledo as the #1 MAC class, but haven't seen much else conference wide. It doesn't matter. We had fewer scholarships to offer, so our rating will be artificially low regardless of the caliber of players we signed. And - ask Brookhart what "#1 rated February classes" mean on autumn Saturday afternoons.

Just was curious as how our players compare to the players other MAC schools signed.
LZIp
I do not put any stock whatsoever into MAC recruiting class rankings. The recruiting sites just do not know enough about mid-major recruits. I read somewhere that Akron had higher rated recruiting classes than Toledo sometime within the past 5 years. I dont know recall the exact words, but the point was that recruiting class rankings dont mean much.
