My son is walking on this year. Will he get a chance at a scolly this year or next? I really dont know the process. I only know his first day of eligibility is June 1.

All depends upon who quits...how many "Jawon Chisholm's" and "Dennis Kennedy's" drop in our lap in mid-summer...etc. And of course, if he's evaluated to be good enough to merit one. I wish him the best.

It depends on how he performs. There is always a chance. Every parent and player should understand that going from walk-on to scholarship is a low percentage opportunity. It is a huge time commitment for no pay. "Do, or do not. There is no try." - Yoda

Anthony Lauro will be grayshirted and won't be on scholarship until January 2014, his will count towards 2014 scholarships.

Highlight below

Thanks for the info. That helps clear up some uncertainty about our scholarship situation this year. Lauro is an exciting player to watch. Hopefully everything goes well for him.

I wonder if greyshirting a bunch of players until the spring will become a thing under Bowden. Certainly appears that way.

Thanks for the tip.

How's his knee rehab going?

Knee rehab is going great, he's running (1/2 speed), catching passes, weightlifting, doing latter drills and box jumps. He has no pain in his knee, but still too early to cut on. His doctor is also the doc for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Anthony was in Akron for an official visit last weekend and had a great time.

Anybody know if ATH Jerome Lane, Firestone HS, Akron OH is an offspring of any St. Vincent-St. Mary's HS Hall of Famers, and ex-Pitt Panther ballers?

Edited, updated & bumped.

Btw, I thought we only had between 13-15 schollies available? This list presently stands @ 19. 20 if we add Tommy Brown.

I'm not sure I can offer any educated scuttlebutt, but I am very curious to see how we make these numbers jibe. It certainly looks like the staff has made some very solid additions to this class here in the 11th hour and hopefully they will all fax a signed letter.

I am certainly a little more at ease than I was a few weeks ago, when I was sweating like Waldo in the Hot for Teacher video.

It's final I committed to Akron today to play football on a full scholarship !!#blessed #d1#nfldreams #zipemup???!!

Had scholarship pulled by Cincinnati (Tuberville is burning Ohio-centric recruiting bridges like no other), then committed to Can't State. Had a change of heart, and now he's coming here instead. Smart man.

A 3-star recruit on both Scout and ESPN.

Not used to seeing a Zips recruit with this many offers. Kudos to the staff.

I am with you. I don't know how he is making this work, but it is turning out to be one heck of a class. I cant imagine what Bowden will do when we actually have a winning team!

Very true. Once he has a winning team and an actual home crowd on his side to go with the everything else, he will do great.
