Dr Z
Man some of you guys are miserable. I'll take a 7-1 record 11 times out of 10.I agree...but the potential of this team has not been reached. This is the most talented Zips team I have watched, and they are not playing their best ball yet. I want to see them start to show that so they are able to peak at the right time. I want to win a NCAA tournament game, and they are not there as a team yet. I think if you ask KD, he will agree with me. Actually, I'm almost repeating what KD has said recently. The Hip Zip
My Rockets weren't going to win this one but I'm glad they competed. What I like most about Akron is their outside shooting. Seems like you have a lot of options from out there. Plus, Zeke is a good player, just needs to not let opposing players get in his head. Him and Pearson jawed backed and forth all game. Both teams turned the ball over way too much. I thought Toledo played great on the offensive end last night. They have come a long, long way. It seems like some here can't recall home losses to the likes of N Ill and Eastern Mich in recent seasons. Even though Toledo played well and cut into our lead, I never felt that we were truly threatened.

In years past, our mental lapses would have caused us to lose to teams like NIU, EMU, BG, Toledo, etc...now they only cause teams to come close to us. We're okay, this team knows how to win. skip-zip
Let me just say, I was stunned when I reached for my roster sheet, and discovered that Pierson was only 6'-4" tall. He plays like he's 4" taller. He's the most talented MAC player I've seen yet this year. McClanahan's comment was that guys aren't taking it personally. Imagine what this team could accomplish if they took their talent, and also coupled that with the effort and work ethic of some Zips teams of the past. We should use Nick Dials as an example. I would join those who want to see a blowout at some point against an inferior opponent to show that this team is capable of playing consistently and battling every play, for 40 minutes. Even though Toledo played well and cut into our lead, I never felt that we were truly threatened. But is that the standard by which the 2011-12 team should be judged....not being threatened by Toledo? Toledo is terrible. They have no size, and their guards are terrible ball-handlers. In the JAR, we should have killed them. McClanahan said it last night...this team is coasting on it's abilities. It doesn't have a killer instinct. It allows lesser teams to hang around, rather than wax them. It's like watching your kid, who's capable of "A" grades, pulling down "B-'s." The Zips need to administer some beatdowns over the next 3 weeks against the cupcakes...not simply coast to uninspired, turnover-riddled wins. ORU and WMU are the only Harney20 Games between now and February 25th.
johnnyzip84
ORU and WMU are the only Harney20 Games between now and February 25th. You are aware BG absolutely crushed WMU last night in K-Zoo? I agree that the team needs to play better very soon or they simply won't live up to their potential. And that is an NCAA tourney run. Captain Kangaroo
You are aware BG absolutely crushed WMU last night in K-Zoo? I ran the Harney20 calculation last night, and that's the result. The Zips will beat BG regardless of Harney's minutes. No so @ WMU. Sources say Matt "Underwear" Stainbrook, the Terry Forster of The MAC, will give Zeke fits.

K92
Wait a sec. I'm confused. I thought CK was burned out on the nicknames... I gotta say "underwear" is good, but I would have opted for "poop".

I thought that the team would be a little flat last night so I am not too concerned. It seems to me that when we needed intensity against K E N T we got it. I expect to observe this pattern to continue. We are just fine. We will be where we need to be in March with a 1 or 2 seed and that is all that really matters now. taxpayer
When this team finally embraces truly sharing the ball and making the extra pass as opposed to forcing individual offense and dribbling too much, the turnovers will go down and our offense will be something to see. I hope that this comes sooner than later and that the coaching staff demands it. I'm sure defense will be worked on the next few days as we gave up an awful lot of drives last night. Nice to be 7-1 with such issues.
burrdie
I thought the team worked together better than they have been, I saw improvement. It just takes time to pull it all together. It is coming, they just have to keep working hard and harder IF they want the NCAA tournament. How badly do they want it? That is the question they need to answer for themselves. They have to know everyone is behind them.
