The Hip Zip
I look for an entertaining, up and down the floor affair. I would suspect the total to be set at about 138-142 so I think the over may have some appeal here. Any word on the health of Walsh ?? Captain Kangaroo
Any word on the health of Walsh ?? I was wondering the same thing. He didn't have his ankle iced or taped at game's end Wednesday, so I have to believe he's good-to-go for tomorrow.
Dave in Green
For anyone who is underestimating ORU: ORU is a top-15 KenPom team in effective field goal percentage, free-throw percentage, two-point percentage and block percentage. No one else is so elite in four offensive categories. This team is no joke whatsoever. Non-BCS Power Pyramid, Week
RowdyZip
This will be a mighty interesting game. I think one team is gonna come out of the gate and sock the other in the face. I believe the winner will follow the hot start to a double digit win. Hopefully it'll be the Zips. Early line from Vegas has the Zips getting 5. That's pretty respectable for a hostile arena against a top 50 team 1000 miles from home. Some friends and I will be watching from Barley House. Has the U sanctioned a watch party? Anyone else headed downtown?
GP1
ORU Schedule and Results Looks to be a very similar team to Akron in terms of their ups and downs this season. DiG is right. ORU knows how to throw the little orange ball through the little orange ring. Probably the best scoring team the Zips will play until the NCAA Tournament. The Zips have quite the challenge in front of them tomorrow. Can't wait to watch the game. Go Zips!!
wadszip
I was talking to a friend who's from Kansas City about Oral Roberts ... they have five K.C. kids on the roster, including Morrison and Rian Pearson's brother (Rodrick Pearson). I asked specifically about Morrison and what kept him off the radar of major schools. He said that the Missouri staff was pushing for then head coach Mike Anderson to offer Morrison, but Anderson ignored those suggestions and went another direction. The Raytown area Morrison is from seems to be a hotbed for talent. In recent years, it has produced Morrison, Alec Burks (2011 NBA first-round pick), Rian Pearson (Toledo's stud sophomore) and has a 2013 kid Ish Wainwright who is a top 25 national recruit. Just an interesting tidbit I thought I'd pass on.

Dave in Green
Team Rankings analyzes all the BracketBusters TV games and has this to say about the Zips vs. ORU: Both of these teams are sizzling hot, and both are in first place in their respective conferences. Akron has won 16 of 18 and leads the MAC by two full games, while Oral Roberts has won 17 of 18 and holds a 2.5-game lead in the Summit League. The Zips probably have a better chance of earning an at-large berth should they fail to win the conference tournament, though, so this game is huge for them. But the Golden Eagles haven’t lost at home all season, and this is their final game in the Mabee Center this year. Team Rankings
ORU Supporter
Hello Zips Nation, looking forward to the Bracket Buster tomorrow and would like to welcome you (coaches, team and fans) to ORU and the Mabee Center http://mabeecenter.com/arenainfo.php Stop by the message board www.orusports.com and say hello (most of the posters are friendly and realistic most of the time). If anyone is coming or came to Tulsa for the game let me know and I’ll fill you in on the good places to eat. ZippyforPresident
Getting ready for a great day of basketball today. Zips are 4-0 all time against ORU. Lets make it 5-0. Go Zips!
Quickzips
Some keys to the game from my standpoint: *Let Morrison have his, but don't let his supporting cast beat you. Morrison is a guy that you can't reasonably expect to shut down. I don't expect to see us throw a lot of double teams at him tonight. You can't focus so much on him that you neglect the rest of the Golden Eagles (see Wednesdays first half against Miami) *Crash the boards. For all that ORU does well scoring the ball, they are not good at all on the glass. I expect a huge game for Tree who should be able to have his way against the ORU "bigs" *Good individual defense. Nobody for ORU averages a lot of assists. Tells me that they tend to play a lot of one on one ball. I think this actually favors the Zips, as it should allow Zeke to control the paint more without having to worry about stepping out to defend the pick and roll. *Depth. The Zips bench is a known commodity. ORU only goes about 7 deep (6 guys play 25+ minutes, two others get around 10-15). If the Zips can keep it close early, they should be able to wear down the Golden Eagle's in the second half.

I usually stick to "find what a team does best, and find a way to stop it." If I had to guess from previous KD defended games, I would guess he tries to stop Morrison the first half and adjusts at halftime. It will be fun (or maddening) to see how it works out though. Dave in Green
@ORU Supporter, judging by your line about Summit League officials, Zips fans and ORU fans seem to have something in common. Hope you come back here after the game and let us know how you think ORU played compared to what you've seen in the past, what you think of the Zips, how fair the officiating was, etc.
RowdyZip
On an interesting note...Vegas opened at Akron +5 and has shifted considerably in 16 hours to Akron +3.5. I think we're in for a good game.

Hope you come back here after the game and let us know how you think ORU played compared to what you've seen in the past, what you think of the Zips, how fair the officiating was, etc. Sure, I'll come back and give you my throughs. As a rule the ORU fans like outside officials. From what I hear the Summit league doesn't pay as much as most conferences and we end up getting what we pay for with a lot of inconsistencies. It doesn't matter to me much about how they call it, if they will call it the same on both ends. I'd like if you bring yours with you. My throughs on this ORU team is that they play to level of their opponents (good or bad). They tend to get down early and make a comeback or get ahead and give it up early in the second half and have to make a comeback. Our problem this year was against SDSU when we didn't come back. Very seldom have a relaxing game, but if the games were relaxing who would go? Talk with you after the game.
