2011-2012 Report Card

I never trashed anyone I just said in my opinion Chauncey has been a good closer better than what you guys have seen. So when Chauncey reads this post I can tell you he will be hurt and pissed for he knows why he appear confused because he was forced to play outside of himself. All his life he's been a creator and finisher except for at Akron. And for the record he has never been a selfish player but very humble which he got from a great family (strong but sensitive). Its also inconsiderate for you guys to say such a hurtful thread giving him a C-, in light of coming of a big lost where he had to watch it slip away while being on the bench, and especially when you don't know all the facts and all the sacrifices he made coming there. And to me he sacrificed more than others on his team as some were not required to. The way I see it if one sacrifice for the team then all should sacrifice. So in your argument you said Walsh and Tree is better than Chauncey but that was OK. But when I said Chauncey is better than Walsh and Serb suddenly I'm a cancer. Well if thats the way midwesterners interpret things so be it. This is not slavery and in the northeast its OK to voice your opinion without being attacked for it. In addition I feel Chauncey wasted his time at Akron this year frankly and I'm not happy with his role he played, the coaching staff, and school and thats the bottom line AND you guys didn't deserve to have him. You have your reasons for feeling the way you do as in C- grade and so do I while totally disagreeing with the B- as well. I trained him to be a complete player and he is better than you give him credit for and that alone makes me very angry. Also when you write BS like grading players than you should be on the phone in the middle of the night when Chauncey calls thinking that the fans hate him and they don't understand the politics of the game. Just because he plays for your school doesn't give you the right to say and do whatever you want unless you want a fight on your hands via conversation. This post was stupid, childish. immature as well as selfish and most of all invited all the peckers to respond. You don't know that half of it. For the record UMBC beat Toledo two years in a row from the MAC so quit trashing UMBC. Chauncey still have friends there and he still loves the school. The program has been in a slump lately and mainly because Chauncey left to be a Zip. I simply said go to the press conference post Can't St. and hear from the coaches mouth why Chauncey's role was limited. There was a lot of time money spent to get him at a place where he could be a complete player to be sacrificed just to loose in the end. I'm not crying just saying. Also the more you guys hate me the better I feel. You guys are funny...

If Chauncey actually reads the posts here he'd realize the fans don't hate him. I just re-read the original post and it is clear to me that you stopped reading after seeing the C-. UAZip praises CG's fire and passion and intensity, and it is clear the reason that his grade was so poor was because he has seen the flashes of brilliance you speak of and expects to see more of the same next year, but it wasn't always there this year.

I'll feed your trolling by asking you, how do you think CG's game could have been better this year? I'm talking individually, don't put blame on the coaches for not playing him enough, or his teammates for not giving him the ball.

For the record, I disagree with the C- and would probably put him at a B, weighing more heavily on his performance towards the end of the season where his game was more complete with taking good shots and being much more active on the defensive end.

Im just going to leave this here...

lumberjack, if Chauncy 1) reads posts here, 2) takes them more seriously than his own coaches and personal feelings, and 3) is upset some random person on the internet gave him a C- based on his 2012 season.... then he's got MAJOR issues that need addressing outside of his game on the court. Seriously.

Additionally, if I were Chauncy and I found someone who claimed to be a "representative" of him on this fan board saying the things you are, I'd be more upset with you than the admitedly very positive reveiw. Albeit the grade is low, its only a evaluation of his factual performance in 2012, not his career in terms of performance, potential, and history overall.

We appreciate the fact you come here to interact with us and provide input, but belittling us over our views on someone whom you claim to be "personal" to you is immature in itself. We all make mistakes and hopefully you can learn from this.

And as always, go zips!

I disagree that Chauncey isn't pro potential. He played as a freshmen for 30 mins a game putting up big numbers on people already in the NBA, a captain in his 2nd year, and was drawing solid interest from scouts in those 2 years prior to getting to Akron. He was a high major recruit same as Walsh with ACC, Big East, Big 12 and SEC along with some high mid majors on the list A-10, CAA and etc. He's also a PROVEN scoring threat and is one of if not the best scorer on the Akron team shooting over 50% FGA as a freshman and 40% in his second year with nearly 700 points in two years at UMBC. You wouldn't have seen it because the politics of the game at Akron shadowed his true potential. You make your assessment over this first year here at Akron when he came there was expecting to be a totally different player one that I've never seen since I coached or watch him play in the last 15 years. He has a game similar to that of Dwayne Wade, Kobe, and Charles Barkley but is not allowed in KD's controlled system of play. I've watch and have tapes on this kid scoring 30 plus on the Morris twins, Tyreke Evans, Corey Fisher, Sam Young, and many more (go ask somebody). For some reason KD recruited him knowing this but demanded that he play a different style when he got to Akron. This is not the same player I know and there is no benefit for him not. He has a ton of experience where he makes everyone around him better and most of all he is unselfish, which I can't say about the majority of the team. KD support my argument when he mentioned this on the post Can't game press conference the night before the championship. To me and Chauncey this doesn't make ant sense and as a person really close to him that really piss me off. I know one thing if it wasn't for him you would have lost more games had he not saved your butts. As a matter a fact if you had him and Treadwell in the place of Walsh and Nick down the stretch of the Ohio game you would be going to the dance right now you ungrateful naive people. He has hit more big shots in games in the last two years than the entire Akron team did this year. KD won't let him do what he does and its not on Chauncey. You only know what is right in front of you not the true story.

I never said Chauncey didn't have pro potential. Go back and read what I posted. I specifically said that he (along with some other guys on this team) could carve out a nice career in pro ball, just not the NBA. The NBA is every player's ultimate goal, but there are only so many spots available. Plus, you can make a very, very nice living outside the NBA. I know a couple guys who did just that ... banking 200,000-plus a year in Europe. Nothing wrong with that.

It's obvious you know, and admire, Chauncey. But come on, don't get carried away and compare him to Wade, Kobe and Barkley. Those guys are all HOFers who all have/had very different games. If you're in his ear telling him that, you are the one being more unrealistic than anybody on this message board. Lets be real, take a guy like Bradley Beal at Florida. He was a McDonald's All-American out of high school, a consensus 5-star recruit and is a sure-fire lottery pick. He maybe has a 5 percent chance to be as good as the guys you are comparing Chauncey to. I use Beal as an example because he is similar size and game-wise to Chauncey. And Beal was 10 times more highly thought of out of high school (and currently is) than Chauncey. If you disagree with that, don't blame me. Blame every single scout and talent-evaluator in the NBA.

Anyways, you'll probably say I'm hating on Chauncey (when I'm not). I'm just looking at it from an outside view. Yes, he deserved to start at the three (though Q also had a case if push came to shove). Yes, he deserved more minutes (especially at the end of the year when it was obvious McClanahan wasn't cutting it ... which would've indirectly freed up more minutes, since Chauncey and Q have as much versatility as anybody on the roster). Yes, he has a bright future. But no, he isn't as great as you think he is. That's no knock on him at all, just looking at things realistically.

No, you are funny. Don't be so insecure. One person gave Chauncey a C-. I immediately agreed with you that it was too low. Then a bunch of other fans also disagreed with the original poster about the grade. But instead of reading all that, you go off on these irrational tangents. That's the definition of funny.

EVERYBODY !! Step away from the keyboard and chill. This thread has turned a bit ugly and is not in the best interest of ANYBODY !! As somebody said before, take a deep breath. Sometimes passion ignites raw emotion and we say things that we shouldn't air out on a public message board. We would all be much better served to give it a rest.

This is a good discussion about CG. But it only takes a few words to turn a good discussion into an angry one.

Going back over all the posts, it appears that the discussion started going from good to angry after a CG defender referred to others here as "you ungrateful naive people."

Folks, this is a sports forum where fans state their opinions, and they're all different. If you think someone's opinion is misinformed and you know better, try to explain why in reasonable terms, and you just might win some people over to your side.

Calling other people names is just going to push them further away from your viewpoint and incite them into calling names back. That's when good discussions turn angry, ugly and unproductive.

Please, everyone keep posting your opinions here, edit out any name calling before hitting the Add Reply button, and help keep the good discussion going.

So about JEgner.

Any thoughts on what kind of role he'll play next season. I'd like to see him evolve a little more, he has potential to be explosive.

I hope Josh is healthy next year. I also hope he receives a medical redshirt for this wasted season.

I have hopes of Josh being a strong defender & decent rebounder. I don't envision Josh ever being much of a contributor on offense. Of course I hope I'm wrong about that.

Right now I envision next year's lineup as such:

PG - Abreu / Mello

W - Gilliam / Q

W - Walsh / McAdams

P - Tree / Harney

P - Zeke / Egner

If Zeke stays out of foul trouble, we'll probably need, what, 8-minutes a game from Egner?

Scanning through the latest issue of TV Guide, I noticed a new show. Seems like it'll be a big hit?

Beaver-dad02.jpg

In this weeks episode of "Leave it to Zipper, " Ward (played by The Oratorious DiG) lectures Wally (played by Lumberjack) and Beaver (played by UAZips0510) on the hurtful nature of name-calling. Uproarious laughter ensues when Eddie Haskell (played by BigZip) defies Ward's advice, saying "Shut up, you idiot."

I would like for him to transfer if he graduates this summer to a place where the system already believes in his potential and not defending it like now...

Guys - Please take the whole topic of Chauncey's grade off the public board. PM each other all day long, but cease and desist with the public mudslinging. That's not why I pay the money to run this forum. And I don't have the time to keep deleting these embarrassing posts.

We play a Big 10 team tonight. Focus on that.

Thanks,

CK

I know this was an attempt at being humorous but I think you've confused me with someone else in this thread.
