I'm going to go off the last time in my memory we opened on a Thursday night at home, in 2003 against Can't State. There was somewhat of a buzz going into that season, as I believe we had our most talented team in the 1-A era (though I'm a bit biased), but there's a bit more of a buzz for this season with the start of Bowden Ball. That night the attendance was around 28,000 if I remember correctly, with about 8,000 Can't people there. I'm going to predict a crowd of 23,000 with better than usual student attendance due to the fact that its during the week and people are on campus.

Me and my 2 buddies will be there so there will at least be 3 in attendance! I say 24,469 My dad and his friend are gonna come... he hasnt come since the first year the stadium opened!!!

Less than 20k

Unless you're the Browns, teams in NE Ohio need to win before people show up. To me it's not that we're "fair-weather" fans, but rather fed up and frustrated fans. We still root for our teams, just tired of watching poor performances. (Typing this as I watch the Indians lose another game)

I will go with 25,000. For some reason I think Bowden used his sales skills to get people out to this first game. Attendance will be back to normal after week 4 and our 1-3 start.

Here's the biggest problem:

The Thursday Night aspect is going to put a slight damper on the ability to bill this as a big Grand Reopening of the Info for the community. Most people won't be able to get there very early, and kids have to go to school in the morning. Saturday just has so many advantages that Thursday does not provide.

I think that really hurts our ability to hit 20k. I just hope we can at least top the 16k that we drew the last time we had some excitement heading into an opener, which was the matchup against Syracuse out of the Big East. I'll go with 18k "announced", and 14k in the stands.

If I remember that Can't game in 2003 correctly, we were pretty good, Can't was pretty good, and both were likely to contend for the East. It was our rival and the first game of the year. Everything was on the line, right out of the gate. That loss hurt the worst in my 18 years as a Zip fan.

If I had to take a guess, it would be 21,500 "announced." With a actual 15-17k in the stands. I will make a prediction however. It will not be dozens and dozens there(less than 10k)

I'm bribing 3 of my friends with Thirsty Thursday at Thirsty Dog and tickets to the game on me. I hope they bite.

You are a good friend.
