AKSportsFan Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 Case in point UAB is in great position to UPSET The Great Ohio State. Quote
NewZipsFan Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 Sure. Sorry, I just don't judge my QB's readiness based on the "look on his face." I'll stick with odds, history, and statistics. I'm a 22 year-old that has been rooting for the Zips for over 10 years. I've seen the difference between Charlie Frye and Clayton Moore. I went to the MAC Championship against NIU and the bowl game against Memphis. I've seen the bad Brookhart teams and the awful Ianello teams. I'm more-than-excited about the new team and Bowden, but baby steps. I hope the upset happens, but I'll be happy with a losing final score of 35-21. You're 22 years old... As you young kids say -- 'Nuff said... I'll forgive your naive bravado --- I remember being 22... I think Quote

I think Considering my journalism and live-football-watching background, I think I'll give myself a bit more credit. I'm a graduate student, not some hungover, sixth-year undergraduate student. Also, UAB has yet to score an offensive TD. I think OSU holds on as long as they don't let UAB kick 25 field goals. Quote
LZIp Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 Your experience has benefited you so much, I see. After all, you're filling the role of the "I played high school football!" tough guy on a college football message board. I'm guessing you also own a Hummer and wear cutoff sleeveless shirts. Have fun with your "attitude football." I will live in reality, where teams win because of physical traits, game intelligence, and good coaching. Appalachian State beat Michigan because of superior physical traits, game intelligence, and better coaching Quote
zestycoyote Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 Appalachian State beat Michigan because of superior physical traits, game intelligence, and better coaching Fair enough! I'm not trying to be an Internet tough guy. I love the debate and I hope the Zips win. We share that, no doubt. I'm pulling for D. Williams to throw 6 touchdowns to stay in the top 5 nationally and an Akron win. We'll see if the collective hope of all UA fans is enough. Quote

AKSportsFan Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 Ok so maybe no UAB and OSU but how about Central Michigan Beating Iowa at Iowa? 31-32 Quote
zestycoyote Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 Ok so maybe no UAB and OSU but how about Central Michigan Beating Iowa at Iowa? 31-32 Big 10 is down. Besides, Iowa is only slightly above Indiana in terms of reputation. Kirk Ferentz has been riding some tough seasons based on success from long ago. Nobody said much when Testicle Tech beat Indiana last week, so I see this as no different. Quote
InTheZone Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 If I hear one more Volunqueer fan down here call us "A-kron" I'm gonna start slappin bitches. Hopefully they'll know our name a little better at the conclusion of this game. Go Zips! Quote

mes102 Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 Let's go!!!!!!! Was at my high school alma mater's JV football game this morning, wearing Akron gear, and a lot of them were asking me about how I feel tonight would go. And these aren't even Akron fans. Majority of them are Ohio State/Mount Union fans...And they were talking to me with optimism... Bowden is changing the culture faster than I thought...A lot of people are tuning in to find out how the Zips do, and they're loving the offensive numbers...Those same Ohio State/Mount Union fans told me they will be watching tonight...Amazes me how different one season can be from the next... K92 Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 Getting ready to go into the game soon. We got "adopted" by some Tennessee tailgaters. They fed us, entertained us, & gave us tickets to sit with them. Amazing hospitality. Hope they aren't too mad at us when the Zips win! Quote
MontrealExposloveZippy Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 What will you do if the Zips win??- I'm bonging a bottle of wine!! Merlot goes down easiest. A celebration indeed!! Go Zips!!! Quote
UAZipster0305 Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 All I can say is I am glad to be here for the ride!! Me too. I can actually plan an entire evening around watching a Zips game. With iCoach, I'd turn it on for the first half of the first quarter then find something else to do. Quote
zestycoyote Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 Any links for the game for those of us without ESPN3? I checked First Row Sports, and so far there's nothing. Edit: A stream is now up on FRS. Quote

akzipper Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 Wow our lead didn't last long at all.... Defense comes up with a big play, then lets UT go right down the field. Still our teams weakspot, by far. Quote
cms133@uakron.edu Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 http://www.thefirstrow.eu/watch/142451/1/w...-tennessee.html Thanks! It's working now. Quote

akronzips71 Posted September 23, 2012 Report Posted September 23, 2012 A milestone! We are DEFINITELY NOT one of the bottom 10 teams. No way. Quote
KnightinPeace Posted September 23, 2012 Report Posted September 23, 2012 UCF Nation pulling for the Zips! Got the game on ESPN3 on the computer with Clemson FSU on the big screen. Quote
akzipper Posted September 23, 2012 Report Posted September 23, 2012 A milestone! We are DEFINITELY NOT one of the bottom 10 teams. No way. way to early to say that. The game could end up being 55-13 or something and no one would remember how it started. I'm nervous that the UT touchdown gave them some momentum Quote
