Injuries?

McAdams is going to surprise a lot of people with his ability to do a lot of things really well. He's really a point forward -- a forward who can handle the ball so well that he can easily sub at the point. He was the guy who ran the offense for Elida in the HS championship game last season. Last season the Zips lost some games they shouldn't have lost when Rico hurt his knee and wasn't playing at full speed until several games after his surgery. Having both Melo and McAdams on the roster this season is a huge insurance policy that is going to pay early dividends. Unlike last season, the Zips are deep at the point.

I agree with you Dave...

Barring injury situations, with both Rico and Melo on the team, I do not see the need for Reggie to play PG. I know that he is very capable of running the position but being able to do something and actually doing it are two different things.

My prediction of Reggie is that he will be the new Nate Linhart. Mark my word.

While it's true that a typical 3rd string PG rarely gets to play barring injury, a point forward can be very effective in helping break an opponent's fullcourt pressure defense. I recall a few situations where the Serb helped take pressure off the Zips guards by dribbling the ball upcourt, and by all accounts McAdams is a better ball handler than the Serb.

We were spoiled by the Zips going entire seasons without being slowed by injuries. That's not typical of college basketball teams. Already this season we've seen Rico affected by first an ankle and now a knee, Chauncey by a knee and Pat by a shoulder. Fortunately they can all still play, even if not quite at 100%.
