CCU Game

GP1

Recommended Posts

The weekend after this coming is the CCU game in Conway, SC. If you don't know where it is, it is very close to Myrtle Beach. This is the best time of the year to go to the beach for a lot of reasons.

Since I live down here (Charlotte), I frequently go to MB. If anyone is going and would like recommendations on things to do, places to go, places to eat, places to stay, etc. reply to this note and I'll put something together.

My offer still stands. I thought there would be several people who used this as a chance to spend a weekend at the ocean the best time of the year to visit MB.

Rumor has it there are $49.00 round trip tickets out of Arnold Palmer airport in western Pennsylvania to Myrtle Beach on Spirit Airlines.

Reading their thread about the game makes me envision that they are more interested in a post game party and dance.

One poster suggested that Zeke is the 25th best player in the MAC. Or, at least, that is how I read it. Wrong.

No mention of Pat Forsythe or the rest of the crew.

Alex may start Friday, but, rest assured, Alex will not play any more than he is needed. He is still mending. Truth be

known; the Zips can play without Alex. Other players beside Melo have been working the point.

Speed kills. And, Coastal will be road kill.

Team travels Thursday to South Carolina and will hold Thursday practice down there.

Go Zips.

@gozips They were talking about Brian Walsh being 4th team all-MAC. I understand your confusion, their English is quite awful.

Talk?...You should see the way the locals dress. Summer attire is cut off jeans and a t-shirt with the sleeves cut off. Winter attire is jeans with a flannel shirt with the sleeves cut off.

Had a great Bachelor Party weekend for my buddy in the Dyrtle once. If you're looking to party there's no better place on the east coast.

Bachelor Party? That only means one thing. I know a guy who worked as a bar back and later as a bartender at The Dollhouse when he was younger. He made $600 per night on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Less on other nights, but still a lot. The also paid $50 just for showing up to work. The guy could tell stories you wouldn't believe, but they are all true. He worked there seven years.

How many of you guys are making the trip down for the game?

I am expecting that it will be a decent game. More than likely you will end up with the win, but it is hard to tell. Close to half our team is new this year, and have only had one exhibition game to play together so far. Curious to know what some of your thoughts are on the game, and how your team plays. Hopefully it is up tempo because that is where we do best.

PS: GoZips reading comprehension man.

Per the CCU board: "ok i take that back trolling is only fun when your post actually post, and do not have to wait

for mod approval. I wasn't even trolling just trying to see what they think their team is like."

Just how does this edition of the Zips look early on? Well, BIG (you have seen the posters and tee shirts); QUICK;

ten players DEEP; lots of game experience and sadly missing Quincy (he'll be back); love to run transition; full

court pressure; mostly man-to-man. Great freshman recruiting class consisting of six-eleven Pat Forsythe; six-seven

Jake Kretzer (D-2 Player of the Year in Ohio); six-six Reggie McAdams (D-3 Player of the Year in Ohio); and five-eleven

Carmelo Betancourt (was starting point guard at Montrose Christian Academy). All four will contribute major minutes.

Have heard that at least two of the these players could start right now; probably all four could from what we saw in

the two exhibition games.

This team loves the "pick-n-pop" and alley oops and dunks; and the usual inside-outside game. Do not forget the pressure

on the ball defense. And, of course, Game Changer patrolling the middle.

Injury report: Alex may still be gimping on his ankle sprain. Though, he ran a full practice Wednesday.

Rumor: Zips may be without the services of Tree and Nick for this game due to a technical difficulty not of their making.

Frankly, I would be disappointed in any point spread under fifteen.

What the heck is this all about? Technical difficulty not of their making? I can't even imagine what that entails. Can't be grades or other suspension related issues (those WOULD be of their own making). Can't be injuries (those wouldn't exactly count as "technical difficulties"). Do they have to testify at a court hearing or something? Frankly I'm getting a little fed up with all of the games our guys have been missing over the last 2-3 seasons for non-injury related issues. It is starting to get a little ridiculous.

Maybe the two of them have been assigned the task of assuring that the live stream is up to ZipsNation standards. That would be addressing technical difficulties not of their own making. B)

There is a certain faction within UA across a broad swath of the institution that, for whatever reason, has made it their mission to sabotage anything related to athletics. At universities like OU and Can't, they have outspoken professors and others who complain to the media, stage open protests, and other things to let the world know their views on athletics. At Akron, they stay silent, but work their influences to screw us over. They do not share President Proenza's belief that athletics is like the front porch of a university. They dismiss the effect it can have on alumni interest, or long for the good old days of being D-III with no scholarships granted based on athletic ability.

We've got a problem at Akron and the current focus appears to be on the basketball program because football did a great job of destroying itself without their intervention and soccer is untouchable thanks to strong academics and a coach who intimidates them.

College basketball is not the same as high school where some players excel and some don't. At the D1 level its all about speed and quickness. To be honest I don't see the speed quickness or strength it takes to start. Plus there is 0 time on the floor as a D1 college player. The exhibition games were against a D2 school. I don't care what you've heard the freshmen except for PF may be able to start. There is nothing that has given me the feeling they could start. The truth will be against Oklahoma where they will have to prove they can handle the strength and speed...Basketball is a contact sport even though you don't wear pads. I'll wait and see if they can start after 10 or so games at the D1 college level.

LOL..really wondering what these "technical difficulties" are. My guess is that is has something to do with the Q incident, seeing that both of them were there.

I can assure you that their involvement in the "Q Incident" was trivial to all sides. I highly doubt that it's the case. However, speaking of that incident and what ZachtheZip posted, he's definitely on to something. Someone or some people are doing their darnedest to wreak havoc.

Or maybe they're just too busy playing Halo 4.
