Big Zip
I'm glad so many folks on here are positive because I'm struggling to find my positive for this game. The poor performance at home and on the road the last few games makes me wonder where this team's collective heads are at. The team we saw play OU looked like a team that could make a run in the NCAA tournament the team that has played the last few games looks like a team that can lose the first round of the MAC tourney. I will be hoping for solid performance from our guys tonight and win but the back of my head is terribly concerned this team is ripe for a loss to a team they should easily beat. phil
Thanks for the video. I am curious. When does the team travel? I assume since I see the buses at the JAR that the teams leave the same day and return after the game. Although the kids are young, that is still a lot of traveling and helps explain why it is difficult to win on the road.

Zipmeister
This is misleading. Their home wins are against the following: Rochester (Not D1) Eastern Illinois (7-18) IPFW (10-16) Texas Pan-Am (12-13) Madonna (Not D1) Purdue (12-12) Siena Heights (Not D1) Central Michigan (9-14) Miami (OH) (8-14) Northern Illinois (5-17) Buffalo (9-15) That concerns Akron? And the worst part is EMU lost by 2 to both Ball State and BG and by 4 to WMU. Different endings to those games and they'd be 7-2, on top of the MAC West and with the 3 seed. Man, the MAC stinks this year! Excellent observation BZ.

MontrealExposloveZippy
Here's how the betting pros see it: Free NCAA Pick: Akron at Eastern Michigan Sure hope the Zips can prove the oddsmakers wrong -- EMU's arena holds 8800 people -- 8 out of their last 9 home games EMU has drawn an average of 800 or so fans. They only pulled in 1800 fans when they hosted Purdue as well. So, one wouldn't think the crowd would be an issue, but we do have a bullseye on our back, front and side... Quickzips
Tempo is going to be the big story line here. If the Zips come out and dictate the pace and make EMU play faster than they want (which is pretty much any pace above that of an 85 year old man with a walker) the Eagles don't stand a chance. If the Zips let EMU control tempo this will be another nail bitter like the last couple have been. Luckily for the Zips, they seem to have figured out the formula for winning even when opponents force them to play slower. Probably some of the more interesting matchups that you will see in the MAC this year as well. Marshall v. Riley is about the only time you will see two 7'0" on the floor against each other in the MAC. Glenn Bryant v. Tree should be a fairly interesting pairing as well. I don't want to sound over-confident (as usual) but if Akron has any kind of focus at all I just can not see EMU taking this one. They just don't have enough offense. Dave in Green
Live stream from the MAC site looks pretty good. Here's a direct link if anyone needs it.
akronzips71
Live stream from the MAC site looks pretty good. Here's a direct link if anyone needs it. The stream is awesome. Like HDTV. Now we need to run up the score. We need to win this one big.
akronzips71
Here we go again with the early substitution. This looks familiar. The bench is nice but play the A team and put the game away first. This strategy has been killing us. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again in the expectation of a different outcome.
akzipper
The stream is awesome. Like HDTV. Now we need to run up the score. We need to win this one big. Every time they seem to be pulling away, they let EMU right back in it...
Dave in Green
Zeke has much better timing on his rebounding. He looks like he really wants that ball, and is serious about going after it.
Big Zip
These terrible passes and unforced errors are killing these guys.
akzipper
New game, same old story. Lazy passing and letting these terrible teams hang around.
phil
Why do we still have so much trouble inbounding the ball. Alex threw the ball to nobday.
akzipper
Impressive 3 point lead over....the Eastern Michigan Eagles If the cheerleaders were on our team we'd be winning by 100.
akronzips71
ANOTHER awful half.
akronad
Betancourt is not impressing me! Entry passes suck.
Big Zip
Betancourt is playing terrible. Teams are playing us hard down low and making it difficult to get passes inside. Additionally, our passes around the edge are lazy and ripe for being picked. Akron is so much better than this team they should be up by 20. Blue & Gold
I'd like to say/believe we've simply been disinterested these past few games but the plain truth is that we just don't look very good. Right now, we're certainly NOT a Top 25 team; we're the typical Akron one-and-done NCAA team. We'd better strap it up soon. I've already purchased tickets to the OU game. RowdyZip
I don't understand how we continue to get the disadvantage from the foul line. Sure, our percentage sucks, but how does EMU have 11 attempts to our TWO in the first half? Zips have been playing inside-out ball and just aren't getting calls on the interior. Fouls are about even (7 on UA, 6 on EMU), but we just aren't getting to the line. Strange.
ZachTheZip
Abreu is the one throwing the ball away constantly. He already has 6 TOs.
akzipper
I understand that no team is perfect but 12 turnovers in a half is unacceptable.
phil
Team have figured out that we have problems against the zone. You break down a zone with quick passes. Hopefully, we can figure this out.
