Zips @ Buffalo

Time to start looking to Buffalo. I'm worried about this game. Last time we played Ohio on social media night, our next game was CMU and we played flat. After last night's emotional win at Ohio, we can't come out flat against Buffalo. Hopefully KD reminds them how Buffalo jumped on us early, and had to come back from 20 down to win at home.

Any more thoughts on this one?

I think that for this game, KD should insist that his players make every effort to never look at the scoreboard or discuss the score.

The only score should be execution.

What am I doing right now?

not... how many points do we need?

I know he has gone toward this purpose with his segmented categorical grading system, but I just think that for a team like Buffalo that the Zips should beat, if we are never aware of the score, we will take it to them the entire game, and when it's all over, it shouldn't even be close.

In previous years I'd fear the trap that is this game. This team though, I'm honestly not worried. I think this team is the real deal and Buffalo on their best night couldn't keep up with this season's Zips. I think they are focused, motivated and really well prepared.

If they do lose, it would be on the sucky side that they would lose their ranking, but sometimes getting a loss before the playoffs can be helpful. Still though, it's best for a team that gets full of themselves. With the possible exception of Abrea (sorry if I spelled that wrong), these guys all seem very hard working and humble.

Maybe Buffalo doesn't look like such a good team. But, it's certainly legitimate to be worried about playing a team that darn near buried us on our home court just a few weeks ago.

We're fine, unless they start shooting like they did that night.

They might be legitimate, but I'm really enjoying the success right now. I'm just gonna stay optimistic. Hell, if Akron doesn't get an 8 or 9 seed, I really believe they'll get deep into the tourney.

Is anyone making the trip to buffalo? Never been there so I'm wondering where's a good place to grab a bite to eat and a drink or two before the game.

Search "PolyZip" and ask him. He's a good friend of mine and he worked in Buffalo for 3 months last winter, he'll definitely have some good suggestions

I will warn everyone to not waste your time at Anchor Bar... despite inventing the chicken wing, they certainly did not perfect it. Duff's is pretty damn good, though.

Yes that's it!! Duff's is delicious!! I had their hottest wings-- I was crying in pain for about 20 minutes... woooooooo doggie

Even though Buffalo is far from an elite team in the conference, this is still a game the Zips have to take very seriously. The Bulls are wildly inconsistent, but have an all-MAC player and they have plenty of games where they have played good teams (including us) very close but have been blown out by some of the conferences lesser teams. Plus Buffalo has been a difficult place for the Zips over the last couple of years, but if they play with the kind of effort they did at OU, they come out with a 72-65 victory. I will be glad once the W is in the standings. I also believe that this is the last big hurdle to an undefeated conference season, I fully believe the Zips handle Miami easily and will take down Can't in front of a sold out crowd at home.

McCrea alone can create havoc, but guard Tony Watson has been rediculous from 3-point land for the last 5 games (23 out of 38!).

Like others have mentioned, I think we'll see the extended zone earlier if necessary, but you would think UB will be better prepared for it than last time.

If Zeke can stay on the court, that should prevent McCrea from going off like he did against K.E.N.T.

I don't expect an easy game in the least, and I don't think that takes anything away from what the Zips have done. We'll probably need a few others to step up this time. Go Zips!!

The dreaded let-down game...

My feelings are the same as they were for the OU game. Do I expect us to win? Yes. Would I be shocked and appalled if we suffer a letdown after the emotional win on Wednesday? No.

I'm slightly concerned about KD's "flying the kids into Buffalo because that's what big programs do" because sometimes that gives kids the big egos and the "we have the right to beat you" mentality but the way the Zips fought against OU on Wednesday makes me think that they're aware of what they need to do and avoid. They seem to have the attitude that they're expecting everyone's best shot now as opposed to 3 weeks ago when they were squeaking out Ws against Miami on the road.

65-56 Zips.

I'd normally be more on board with the "hangover" or "let-down" theory following a big win, but the team is so close to the end of the season and they can see the light at the end. If we were earlier on in the year, I'd say yeah it's a concern. But with three games left, finishing strong is a mentality probably stronger than anything else.
