I would like to use the Charlie Batch analogy when discussing our point guard problems. Last year, Charlie Batch started and lost to a bad Cleveland team. One week later, he beat the future Super Bowl champion in the Ravens. A player can really get up to speed in one week. I look for better guard play this week.
I can roll with that...even though one is a vet and one has little experience. Not bad.

Bulletin Board Material from Chris Evans?

“No disrespect to Akron, but when you suit up you’re supposed to be ready,” Can't State senior forward Chris Evans said. “If we would have lost, I don’t think we would have made any excuse, we would have accepted it for what it was.

"No disrespect" -- reminds of Talladega Nights, Ricky Bobby "with all due respect, Mr Dennit ... I had no idea you had gotten experimental surgery to have your balls removed"

Love Evans basically calling them out for being unprepared and letting a "little" thing like losing your starting PG the day before the game to such a tragic situation impact their play.

I hope the Zips beat them by 20 tonight.

Where did this come from? I don't recall any of our guys making excuses.

This may seem conspiracy theory, but:

Does the Mid-American Conference want its NCAA tourney representative to be a team in which all the media talks about is how its PG "drug dealer" was arrested and they still managed victory?

My thoughts: no way. The MAC does not want the only media attention its teams get to be synonomous with drugs, alcohol, whatever. And admittedly, we are not the same team that could "make a deep run" w/out AA, so our value is lost on them there.

Just a discussion point until our big night tonight. (and in case we see obvious one-sided refereeing tonight ;) )

If the MAC really wanted us to lose, they would have payed extra to have Boroski, Wymer, and company officiate the MAC tournament.

I saw that. My question was which Akron players made excuses that we lost? I don't remember seeing that. I don't understand why Evans made the comment.

@Zipgrad01, I don't have any exact quotes for you. But many of the media questions to the Zips after the Can't game obviously addressed how much of an effect it had on the team to have to play without your starting PG with only 24 hours to get ready. Any answer other than "it didn't make any difference," which would have been a ridiculously absurd response, could be loosely interpreted as an "excuse." Chris Evans' comment is a total joke.

I think Evans is taken out of context a little bit. He was asked if not having Abreu made any difference last Friday and was a factor in their victory. At the time, I didn't think he was trying to call Akron out. To me, I think he felt the question was trying to mitigate their win, which was big for them. I left that quote out of my article because I thought it was hard to include the context. He didn't say it that well, but many athletes are not articulate.
