jupitertoo
Terry Bowden looking to spark Akron in his second season at the helm in 2013 A few glaring errors: 1. "The city of Akron has seen a lot of growth in recent years" 2. "$300 million InfoCision stadium" One insult: "Akron is a lot like Morgantown, W. Va." liljc
One insult: "Akron is a lot like Morgantown, W. Va." Jupitertoo got this right. It's an insult to those rabid, football-crazy fans from Morgantown! You can't get a ticket to a Mountaineer game and we can't even give tickets to people to get them to come to one of ours. I see why the good people of Morgantown were offended by that statement. Props to Coach Bowden for trying to portray us in a positive light. skip-zip
Morgantown - 30,000 Akron - 230,000 That roughly equates Morgantown to somewhere like Barberton. I think he was only comparing the cities, and Akron obviously is much larger, and has many more amenities than Morgantown. So, there is no comparison. "Morgantown" is not a "football-crazed city". The STATE loves their football team, and that just happens to be the Small City where they gather 6 times a year to watch their state's football team play. gozips19
I thought the most interesting question asked was the poll: Who will win more game this season Bowden or Wiess? I'd lean Bowden but just barely.
Zipsrifle
Nice article. I have to say, even though we have a tough schedule, I am finally looking forward to Zips football this year. The last few years have been brutal! I like the comparison to WF and I think it is appropriate. Those guys last year were fighting in every game, unlike the previous two season. I'm hoping we can steal one or two games this year! Oh, and I expect us to be giving away tickets for a while. It will take some sustained winning in Akron to get people in the area to take notice. Dr Z
Did he make the putt? No, but neither did I. Not an easy birdie putt, 30 foot slight uphill with a pretty good left to right break. His effort was admirable, and gave me a good read. If I remember correctly, coach says "I'm not a golfer like my dad." I think he sunk the putt for the group behind us. legendofzippy
Terry Bowden looking to spark Akron in his second season at the helm in 2013 Always nice to get some attention. SI seems to still churn out good content while I basically don't even recognize ESPN anymore.
