Delusional is what some of us our. If he had gone to college, he would of played at OSU, over his hometown, high school coach and teammates. He "gives back" to Akron as a courtesy, good PR for him with the city. Not to mention, when he's home, playing with our team is a convenience to him. Where else is he going to play against decent competition?

How many games has he attended since Dru and Romeo left; compared to Miami, Kentucky, and OSU?

I wont deny that what he does helps to an extent, but it is usually overstated.

I think what is posing as discussion here is best referred to psychologically as self-hatred, left over from the days of Akron U's losses in the first round of NCAA College Division games in the mid 70s. LeBron has stated publicly that, had he played college basketball, he would have spent his year in the JAR, with his coach, Keith Dambrot. Either that, or you're right -- having the most famous athlete in the nation playing in your gym and promoting your team is irrelevent.

Economics 101: LeBron earns millions of dollars from Nike, and tOSU is a much bigger deal to Nike than UA by virtue of way more shoe sales. Anyone who can't live with Akron and UA sharing a piece of LeBron with Columbus and tOSU is just going to have to live the rest of their lives unhappy and grumpy.

Yes, only college graduates should root for a particular college football team. The problem isn't the 10-year-old fans, it's the people that went to Akron, Ohio U, etc. that roots for OSU because they only cheer for a frontrunner. There's nothing admirable about a bandwagon fan. If you didn't go to college, root for a team in your area—spread the wealth.
