Anybody happen to be listening to 1350 this afternoon? Thats definitely NOT a station I listen to on a regular basis. But, French took a pretty good shot at some of the posters on Zipsnation. It was related to soccer. But, he and his dunce Dunn seemed to go out of their way to make their point Anybody?

Garsh ... I hope I was one of them.

Up to this point I see ZERO leadership and/or coaching coming from Embick and his staff. Fix it or pack your bags.

Well since I don't have a recorder in my car... I'm sure he will be glad to tell you what he said if you contact him.

If you hear something on a public radio show, begin a thread to discuss it, then refuse to discuss what was said, you are less than worthless.

Glad Steve and Joe still enjoy our site after all these years.

Did notice a lack of intensity from the Akron staff during the Wake game. The team still has the advantage in individual skill but the scheme is lacking.

I was listening also and Steve's comment was basically directed toward all those supposed zip fans who have jumped off the bandwagon and/or are slamming the team. They've lost a ton of players to the draft and they've got a 1st year coach and yet they're 9-3, ranked, and just beat top 10 wake forest- yet look at the crowd!

Porter is gone but the zips still are playing soccer- pretty well other than the loss to hartwick. This is like all the criticism dambrot gets even though he keeps winning 20plus games and making it to Mac championship game.

I agree with French-zips nation has evolved into mostly negativity and pessimism (my apologies to the better posters). That's everyone's right but some of us don't want to hear it.

The only knock I have is that there is way too much support for Porter here. He is no longer the coach at Akron but people still act like he is. I couldn't care less what happens in Portland or in the MLS. He could win 10 championships up there but it still doesn't help us one bit. Much like Huggins winning in WVU doesn't help UA. Coaches leave and it's time to move on.

I listen to that show every day on my way home from work, starting at 5:00. To date I have not heard anyone call out this site specifically. I'd say those guys are very fair.

It was around 4:30 yesterday and they were commenting on all of the negativity on ZipsNation.org. I think it was Joe who jokingly said something like "I bet none of the people on ZipsNation has ever put on a jock." They were just laughing and having a little fun.

Go Zips!

1) Porter/Huggins comparison is a TERRIBLE one. Huggins went to another college program. Porter went to the professional ranks. Porter would still be here if it wasn't for two initals: TW

2) Everyone keeps talking about how they wish Akron gets mentioned more here or there. Personally, you may not like soccer, but practically in every MLS game broadcast, Akron is mentioned at least once on air.

3) The reason why people still follow and support Porter, is that he still supports and follows Akron. He didn't go to a bigger college program, even though he easily could of left the day after the Virginia loss.

4) My comparison of Caleb Porter is Brad Stevens. But Porter is a better coach/manager in his sport. I'm proud he was a Zip coach, and will follow him since he went to the next step, and didn't go to a different college program. Coaches have every right to take the opportunity to get their chance at the professional level as much as the players.

The cheap shot on TW is VERY cheap and sickening :puke:. Any one with even minimal knowledge of zips athletics would know that your claim is not true.

Otherwise, I agree with the rest of the post. Great Porter - Stevens analogy.

I probably shouldn't of mentioned it, but from people that know former assistant coaches and players that they still are in contact with, Porter was upset with him. He wouldn't give Porter the time of day. He would always send one of his assistants to meet with CP on what CP wanted to talk about. I probably went too far with that, just didn't see it that way when I posted it. Just looked at it as a fact, and not a cheap shot. Portland was in theory, the worse job for CP's schemes, philosophy, etc.
