Pohl

Playing with an injury can affect almost everything you do to some degree.
In this case, I don't buy it. He ran for an eight yard first down without a noticeable issue. It's football, everybody is banged up this time of year in one way or another. Hopefully he steps it up in practice given the extra time before UMass.

I've seen QB's play hurt. Pohl may be dinged-up, but no more so than any other QB's in week 10. He had several strong runs...designed runs...over the last two games. You don't draw up such plays if your QB is seriously injured.

Paraphrasing Bowden on this week's Coach's Show - "Jordan Lynch gets hit harder and more often than anyone in the nation. And he doesn't complain. It's football. You're always going to be a little hurt."

Having a bad foot doesn't change the fact that KP16 locks onto one receiver and telegraphs his passes to the secondary. He still needs to improve his reading of the defense and have the confidence to deliver the ball to a receiver when he is open.

According to the ABJ article, KP16 is aware that he needs to improve his reading of the defense.

He's a smart kid, but us fans are always wanting more and better, faster. :champs:

I am hoping that it's ONLY his foot that's bad, and very glad that they have a week off to heal up a bit before UMass.

Pohl shouldn't even have played this season. He sucked it up and delayed surgery for the team. I wish we would get off of his case a bit.

I guess every other QB is going to have to have after season surgery since he is no more "dinged up" than anyone else.

Judging by my calculations, we would have a grand total of zero wins without Pohl, since Hirschman cant run 10 yards without finding a way to get hurt.

I will say that his decision making needs to improve, but I will not question his toughness.

It even happens in SEC games.

I don't know if anybody got to see "The Book of Manning" on ESPN recently. Well done IMO. I wasn't born yet, but my favorite story was Archie Manning breaking his arm in the 1970 season at Ol Miss. He casted it and played. They showed film of him rushing for a TD, breaking tackles. Awesome.

I appreciate anybody playing through pain. It happens pretty often in contact sports. Look up hockey players playing through injuries if you really want to be amazed.

Book of Manning (YouTube) (start at the 24 minute mark if you want to watch Archie play with a broken arm)

He's the healthiest guy in the history of college football ever to have needed to sit out an entire season, yet played in every quarter of every game for an entire season.

Dalton Easton's loss is our gain.

One thing's for sure -- it's a lot easier to talk tough about playing through injuries when it's someone else's body. Whatever KP16's physical problems may be, I suspect we may not find out for sure until after the season. Sometimes coaches and players don't like to get too specific about injuries being played through. If he requires surgery, he's probably more than just dinged up.
