They are a good team that is completely overrated. Pointing this out is not bashing. It is pointing out the truth. They have become what Va Tech used to be. America is sick of looking at them lose one big game after another and wishes they and their obnoxious fans would go away.

GP1....You're right on the money with this assessment. And if it bothers you this much, you probably can only wonder what it's like living here in Ohio.

Not a chance! So long as I have to listen to friends, family, and the media drivel on about OSU's unsubstantiated greatness, I will continue to point out how and why they are over-rated.

I think they are a top 15-20 team, but playing for the NC because they won 24 straight games with soft OOC and B10 schedules...ridiculous!

Let me tell you one way to look at it:

They've won 1 football title in the last 46 years, and that was on a bad pass interference call, after the final whistle had blown and everyone was walking off the field.

And they've won NO basketball titles in the last 56 years.

But, if you listen to their bandwagon, robot-like fans, you'd never guess that. They claim superiority year after year after year, and it doesn't work out. The truth is, they've been right once in the last 102 opportunities to substantiate their greatness with an actual title, and those who disagree have been right 101 out of 102 times.

This may be as good a place as an any to ask a question about teams that make Bowl Games. (Sorry to derail the OSU train.) One thing that has bothered me for sometime and doesn't make any sense is what you hear from coaches who make bowl games "the best part about making a bowl game is you get extra practice time". If this statement is true they should the teams that didn't make a bowl game get to keep practicing too? Aren't those the teams that really need the practice? Aren't you helping the better teams get better while hindering the worse teams? What are the rules about practicing outside of the season?

The goal of the NCAA is to keep the good schools good, and the bad schools bad.

Speaking of tOSU running up a lot of wins with weak scheduling, what about Florida State? Their schedule was as weak or weaker than tOSU's. Tonight so far they're looking very ordinary against Auburn.

I already touched on this earlier in the thread. An overall schedule strength similar to OSWHo? YES. But, Florida State beat a #7 and a #3 team during the season, and the #3 was on the road in front of a national TV audience. Yep, the same Clemson team that played OSWho. And FSU blew them out at their place. And none of their games all year were close.

Huge difference between FSU's resume, and OSWho's.

I somewhat disagree. Clemson beat OSU. FSU absolutely smoked Clemson at Clemson. They demolished every mediocre team they played. Can't say the same about OSU. Yes their schedules were both bad, but FSU took it to the 2 top 10 teams they played, while OSU lost their two biggest games.

Of course I'm talking about the overall SOS, where FSU and tOSU were very similar prior to the bowl games. FSU had a couple of tough games and a lot of really easy ones. Tonight is not so easy.

Just to be clear, I'm not arguing that tOSU is as good as FSU. Not by a longshot. I'm just saying that I had questions about FSU's ability to beat Auburn based on FSU's overall weak schedule. I never bought into FSU being a big favorite tonight, and so far I'm seeing something similar to what I expected.

Regardless of how this game turns out kind of gratifying to see Florida State burn Auburn on a big play late like Auburn did to a couple of other teams this season. Would like to see the end of the SEC domination (even better having a team in the championship game). Do hate that Florida State "war whoop" though.

PS Anybody think at the end of the game FSU could have used Moses?

The thought did not occur to me, but you're right: Moses could have helped FSU throughout the game. I'm not sure I've ever seen a D-linemen take as long as Jernigan did to regain his wind. The Holidays must have been a little too good to him.

Despite the loss, I came away respecting Malzahn's offensive genius even more. KP16 and the Tiger's Marshall are such different QBs that I'm not sure how much Auburn does could transfer to the Zip playbook. But Malzahn's offense looks a little more inventive than those of Holgorsen (WVU), Gundy (Ok St), etc. Maybe there are some nuggets that can be learned from studying Auburn, from afar of course, as I doubt TB is welcome on the Plains.

Maybe he and TB could have lunch next offseason to talk about it. I wouldn't rule anything out with TB, I always have that statement in the back of my mind, "we need to find a way to win in the MAC."

Texted my buddy the same thing after the game. That was a lot of fun to watch. FSU/OSU would not have been

No doubt. These two teams were in a whole different class than the Suckeyes, and they almost wiggled their way into this game anyway. I'm so happy this BCS system is ending. I especially would like to see the AP voters start next season more sense than they did this year.

I loved seeing a team other than the SEC win a title, finally. I think it also sheds a bigger light on the ACC in particular, and I think they may benefit greatly from this.

Be careful of what you wish for. The BCS worked perfectly this season. Not only were the two best teams matched up, but for the most part the BCS games were great.
I agree, I've said it a lot, if they just changed when they started ranking teams (near wk 6), we would have a better chance of the deserving teams being at the top instead of teams like Michigan being ranked so high when they played the Zips. I love my Zips, but no way after that game this year do I have UM anywhere near the top 25. The new system will have the same flaw.

BTW I don't even care if it means ANYTHING, can we start doing this next year?

I'll volunteer to come up with the images and stand there holding them up. It just makes me smile. :D

Agreed.

If you think it is flawed now, wait until in the next 10 years it turns into a 16 team playoff. A 19-20 year old is not built to play that many games against that high level of competition and by the time the teams get to the final game, only half of their starters will be on the field because the rest will be injured. The playoff next year isn't the end, it is the beginning of something really stupid. Wait and see...

Wouldn't it be even better if you could get the actual people to stand on your sideline and raise their hands when it was time to do so? Now that would be great TV.
