UCF's new stadium/arena project

Recommended Posts

Have any of you seen UCF's plans for their new football stadium AND basketball arena? If you go to UCF's athletics website, you can see a few sketches of their future football stadium and future UCF Convocation Center. I know someone posted a picture of their football stadium on the board here a few months ago. But they are also planning, as part of this program, a new basketball arena along with student housing and some sort of retail strip. This thought crossed my mind because it is taking soooo bloody long for the U to make any sort of announcement on OUR new stadium: Perhaps the reason it is taking our administration so long to make any sort of announcement is due to the fact that they, like the UCF administration, are also planning a larger-scale, football stadium / basketball arena / retail strip / student housing project? A project more complex and far-reaching than a single stadium. What do you guys think? This would fit naturally with the ongoing development of the Zip Strip / University Park area, and could even possibly "span the tracks," and run development down to the Main/Exchange - to - Polsky Building / Canal Park area of downtown? I know, rumor has it that a few Zip Strip property owners are holding out on us (Odd Corner?!) But on a larger scale, do you think a project larger than what we've been envisioning could be the real reason for the holdup? Just fun to think about!

One has to have MONEY to be able to build a stadium. Taft (the education governor)is such a POOR governor regarding education, Ohio is ranked 49th in monies directed to education and associated items. Mississippi is 50th!Thee are NO BIG money donors, we have less that 1/3 of money required to start up a stadium. If any of you on this board know somone who has millions to direct to a stadium, tell them to contact Development. Until then, NO announcement is forth coming!

I'm not really sticking up for Couch, but I have much less respect for many other Cleveland athletes who had much more to work with and didn't get it done. I'll name a few from relative recent history for you.... Mark Price, Brad Daugherty, Omar Vizquel, Jim Thome, Kenny Lofton and Sandy Alomar. Couch had nothing to work with and made the playoffs and the Browns almost beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh. Couch was out, but he would have given the Browns a more balanced offense and they would have won. Holcomb showed why he is Kelly Holcomb...it wasn't what he could do, it was what he couldn't do (scramble) that lost the game for Cleveland. If you want to blame anyone for the Couch years, you should be blaming Carmen Policy for his horrible management as it relates to his general cluelessness. The only reason that knucklehead got into sports is because Ed Debartolo Sr. sent him out to San Francisco from Youngstown to keep an eye on his coke head of a son, Ed Jr., while he owned the 49ers. He failed at that too because Ed Jr. was arrested for bribing the governor of LA while Policy was working for the 49ers. I have no idea how he got as far as President of the Browns. He must have had pictures of Paul Tagliabu in a compromised situation. If it wasn't for that shill Mike Trivisano proping him up on WTAM, Policy wouldn't have lasted as long as he did.

Mike Trivisono?  Is that slime bag still around?
yep and he's campaigning for building a retractable roof on cleveland browns stadium in hopes to attract a super bowl to cleveland. He's not a very big Charlie Frye fan though.
Him and GP1 should be best buddys then. :rolltide: BTW, Tim Couch sucked.

I was just trying to think of a guy that had some ties to NE Ohio sports with a ton of money that owed something back.(I'm sure all Akron players in the NFL have already been hit up)Would it change people's opinion of him if he donated a ton of money to get this project done?Or would your last thought of him still be the one of him crying in the locker room cussing out Browns fans.I think it would change my opinion of him, but I doubt he is looking for good PR around here anymore. He is probably happy with all his money he made off of the Browns fans and could care less on his Kentucky ranch.

Tim Couch! Some lessons are learned the hard way, and that is what the pre-draft workouts are for. Couch sucked in his first workout and asked for another one with the Browns. He prepared him self and did great. No wonder he was occasionally prepared in his pro-career. To compare him to Price and the Cavs that got eliminated by a one-man army is ludacris. Those guys consistently gave it their all and just barely lost in several game 7's. The only consistent thing about Couch was his inconsistency.

Tim Couch could not read a defense to save his life. :tomato: The only plays he made were on scrambles and hail marys. He would wait until someone was open and waving their arms in the air to throw and by the time the ball arrived so did the defender. He couldn't throw a timing pass or anything mid-range. At KU they didn't even have a play book, just drew em up on the dirt!
