Dr Z
"Last year's tournament had a $14.5 million economic impact on Cleveland and Northeast Ohio," said MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher. "So it should give some indication of the number of people that come in are spending their money not only going to the games, going to the restaurants going to shops." Captain Kangaroo
I think $1.2 million of that can be directly attributed to the Zips fans paying for overpriced beer and food at the Clevelander.
GP1
Partnering with St. Patrick's Day is a good way for the MAC to pretend it is having that big of an impact on the economy of Cleveland. Let's assume that over a three day period, 30,000 people walk in the gates of the arena. That would mean that each of those people are spending nearly $500/person in the three day period. Seems a bit far fetched to me.
zippy5
Last year wasn't during St Pattys day, was it?

skip-zip
So, they lay out the welcome mat for everyone this year by closing the major highway into the city?

zippy5
$200 a person in tickets, food, hotel, possible flights in/out of Cleveland. Not unreasonable.
ZachTheZip
Total attendance at the Q last year was 34.5k
