ZachTheZip Posted October 30, 2014 Report Posted October 30, 2014 Free tuition, huh? Considering how much it has ballooned recently, there should be 20,000 students packed into the stadium on Tuesday. 1 Quote
Balsy Posted October 30, 2014 Author Report Posted October 30, 2014 The great prognosticators at Bleacher Report are calling the Zips in this one! 1 Quote
Staton14 Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 Probably means nothing but Pohl is listed first in the depth chart included in the game notes. However, it say Pohl OR Woodson, so it probably means nothing. There was a student event at Rob's dining hall this afternoon promoting the football game and many of the players were there, including Pohl who appeared to be in good health and good spirits. 1 Quote
Staton14 Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 Pohl will be starting.I sure hope so. May not mean a win but at least it will be watchable. Quote
K92 Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 Nice comment from Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba:I personally hate Akron more than any MAC school. Kill zippy. Quote
K92 Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 Pohl will be starting. If true, this is proof of the power of prayer. Quote
skip-zip Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 Didn't anyone listen to the coach's show?Terry said he doesn't believe that a guy should be replaced because of an injury. Pohl was cleared too late to practice for the last game, but will play on Tuesday.End of the "conspiracy" speculations. Please. 1 Quote

Dave in Green Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 If true, this is proof of the power of prayer. No, it's the end of the great conspiracy. Quote
zippy5 Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 Ah so he was cleared, and Coach held him out due to lack of preparation, not medical caution. Thanks. Quote
Dave in Green Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 Ah so he was cleared, and Coach held him out due to lack of preparation, not medical caution. Thanks.Just a hunch, but I suspect that KP's medical condition was also on Coach Bowden's mind. Throwing a player just off head injury watch into a game for which he's had no time to prepare is a recipe for increasing the risk of more injury. Then again, I may be hypersensitized to this issue from all the medical reports I've been reading over the last few days about what's happening to the brains of football players. Quote
K92 Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 No, it's the end of the great conspiracy.C'mon, Dave. You're better than that. First of all, you know the definition of conspiracy and you know that no one was talking about a secret cabal of power brokers getting their heads together to hatch a devious plot to keep Kyle Pohl out of the game. Quote
K92 Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 Terry said he doesn't believe that a guy should be replaced because of an injury. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for Kyle. That's usually what a coach says when a backup comes in and plays lights out and casts doubt on who the starter really should be. That is clearly not the case here. I could see Urban Meyer saying something like this about Braxton Miller in light of how JT Barrett has performed. Quote
Dave in Green Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 Keener, I like you but you're really reaching. Quote
K92 Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 Well Dave, I have started to compose a response to you about a dozen times and deleted it to start over. That probably means it's time to just shut up.Everything that I have ever stated in this forum springs from the love for my University and my sincere wishes that good things happen for her. Quote
Balsy Posted October 31, 2014 Author Report Posted October 31, 2014 Now that the QB controversy of '14 is over. Can we please move on to discussing the BG game? We've got less then a week before we become top in the MAC East folks! 1 Quote
Dr Z Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 A little more information on this graphic than the last one. Don't forget your gaffers or electrical tape for your black shirt. 1 Quote
Dave in Green Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 Keener, I would never dream of questioning your passion and support for UA and Zips athletics. We all share that common interest or we wouldn't be spending our time here. The Zips QB situation is going to work out for the best under the circumstances and we can all move on to other discussion topics, which I hope will be a relief to all. 1 Quote
zippy5 Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 Now that Pohl is starting, I can see a UA win. I agree with GP1 when he says momentum and confidence are big. We've lost both.. But hopefully with Pohl back, we re-gain the confidence, and momentum will come back with a few nice drives. If we don't dig ourselves a big hole, I see a W. Would be nice to be 5-4 at this point with Buffalo, UMass and Can't State left. Quote
Balsy Posted October 31, 2014 Author Report Posted October 31, 2014 Teamrankings.com has Akron winning over Bowling green, but they have a low confidence in that prediction. (they also had low confidence in their prediction of Ohio vs. Akron where they had also picked Akron). Quote
K92 Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 LeBron has a shirt waiting for him Tuesday night. Word is he is skipping the trip to Portland to be at the Zips game. Quote

Captain Kangaroo Posted November 1, 2014 Report Posted November 1, 2014 The offense: Going into the season this unit was expected to be a team strength, and arguably one of the best in the MAC with one of the top receiving corps in the nation returning,The passing game: One has to wonder if this receiving unit, which has dropped and fumbled its fair share of passes all season, was really as good as advertised. To these Elton Alexander points I can say the following: 1.) They are the same point. Looks like he's just trying to fill space. 2.) The only person who thought this Zips receiving corp was "one of the top receiving corps in the nation" was Elton Alexander. And I'll assume rocks of crack and a butane torch were somehow involved in the thought process. 3.) The only person who advertised the Zips WR's as "good" was EA. D'Orazio is good. LT Smith is ok. The rest are average-to-below average...and that's by MAC standards. Bowden needs to find some outside WR's, and pray that Alexander is something special at RB next year. We need offensive playmakers in the worst way. 1 Quote
