He sounds promising as a pass catching TE option in the supposed one-read offense, if he can do what is reported. Zach, (and anyone else) do you think this is a place they've found for him that he can succeed in/the team needs a player in and he'll be looked at for LB later? Based on his size he seems a perfect fit for LB...

I don't think that he is athletic enough to play linebacker for us to be honest. Hopefully, this role lets him help to contribute.

If he can catch the ball, put him out there. The current crop of receivers have a terrible case of butterfingers.

Some people here are simply repeating what has been said for years. It has been no secret that the skill positions including QB and WR have been big question marks for years. Still are. Until we see people who haven't played at those positions actually produce, nobody has any idea what those people will do at the MAC level. Not talking about the D here so don't go there. Its obvious that TB is still searching, after all this time on the O side. This is the season he jumps or...I would be worried that if he is laying his eggs in the Chapman basket its an all or nothing. He might turn out to be the second coming...or not.

Spring game roster has been released http://www.gozips.com/sports/fball/2015-16/files/2015_Spring_Game_Rosters.pdf

I don't see the DL from Buchtel. His name always slips my mind. I also don't see Lane???

Tyler Fitzpatrick is interesting to me. But really only because I happened to play against him in high school. He is a transfer from Edinboro. Great size, but I wouldn't expect much out of him. Walk on I'd guess.

Let me go out on a limb here….If you miss the spring game, you really aren’t missing anything…Now, if you fail to show up early to tailgate, shame on you!

Here is what I expect to see on Saturday.

A “game” that is offense vs. defense, instead of picking teams and playing a damn game. Retarded!

Twelve minute quarters.

A running clock in the second half.

Most plays running up the middle because we don’t want to “show anything” and hey, we want to establish the running game. Right!!

A roster that is missing key players, made up with walk-ons and many new names with no indication of who the walk-ons are and who the scholarship players are.

No way of getting any information on where guys went that are missing from the roster.

Yet, coming off a 5-7 record, the scrimmages in the spring are now closed but we should be thankful that we get to watch the spring game, which really isn’t a true game and we will learn basically nothing from…

idk...the first spring game I went to was in 2012, When DW13 and Clayton Moore were the QBs of significance, CM8 being the incumbant. After watching that game I said to myself "I think #13 is going to be our QB next year..."

Charles Barkley was sitting behind me.....I heard him say "this team is terrible"...I agree. Ouch!

I thought they looked better than last year.

A lot of things didn't work offensively because you can't run a read option when your QB is called down on contact.

15 players sat out, including some big names.

Has anyone else been following the WR situation?

Bickley and Pratt, who had been in the regular rotation of WRs for 2 years, were relegated to the Offensive Reserves (White Team Offense) for this game.

With the departure of 3 WRs, I figured these guys would be playing much bigger roles. But, today there were 5 WRs on the Blue team, which now appears to have put these two guys way down the bench?

It just seems like a dramatic change. Was wondering if anyone knows more.

Hilltopper, Pratt was originally listed on the White roster. I didn't see the change. I really wasn't watching each play that closely today. My puzzling comments about the WRs is based off of the teams that they put them on. The fact that it appears as if 5 WRs may have moved ahead of Bickley and Pratt, after 3 graduations, considering their previous frequent playing time, is a mystery to me until I learn more.

The only thing I remember from Pratt yesterday is that he dropped a pretty good pass from Tra'von Chapman, the very first one if I'm not mistaken (Bowden looked frustrated at that and the other dropped passes today). I was surprised that we didn't see the ball thrown to any TE or any plays that had a TE option. There has been an obvious focus on that position in the offseason, where we only had 2 on the roster last year we now have 5/6. Michael Means looks promising, only because he can actually hold on to the ball. Hundley is the best option we have at RB, second I still think is Lawrence. I was unimpressed with Donnell Alexander. I like the look of our D, gotta work on the penalties...Jamal Marcus looks like a stud.

I agree on Means. I thought he looked promising as well. I also liked seeing Tyrell Goodman back on the field. We really missed him last year, but he is a guy that typically catches the ball. He isn't a game breaker, but Means and Goodman are two solid guys. MTB, Wolf or Pratt absolutely have to step up on the outside.

Jamal Marcus definitely impressed. He has great speed of the edge and could get to the QB and will.

Hundley definitely trimmed up. He looks to have a much better burst this year.
