Captain Kangaroo
It was just one of those things, like no matter how this year went.. We're akron, at home, with the season on the line. And they're.. Northern Illinois. I don't have any feel for how the rest of the tourney will go. It's wide open, and it'd be a ton of fun if UB wasn't sitting there on a week's rest. I'm not as big of a fan as the triple bye being on the other side of it, but tough shit, win some more games if you don't like it.If the Zips were to somehow win the MAC tourney, the meat-grinder they'd have survived would be the best preparation you could ever ask for if you wanted to win an NCAA Round #1 game.
zippy5
That is very true. Here's to it.
skip-zip
If the Zips were to somehow win the MAC tourney, the meat-grinder they'd have survived would be the best preparation you could ever ask for if you wanted to win an NCAA Round #1 game. And the 4 days of rest before that Round #1 game would feel like an eternity. But for right now, the key is that we got through the Monday game with limited physical....AND MENTAL...fatigue. Being able to "shut it down" in the 2nd half on both fronts, and be able to relax a bit, was vitally important. I'll still stick with my previous posts about thinking there's a great chance we can still make it to Thursday. And we'd have a fighting chance against Ken+. I like the way we are producing points the last couple of games, and Keith indicated last night that we are going to take a "turn it loose" mentality. Plus, having Forsythe, even if it's primarily for some defense and rebounding, would be something we missed at Ken+ last week. Like Zippy5 just said, I think many of us have commented about how Friday would likely be the brick wall.
akronzips71
We would have way more than a "fighting chance" against Can't. We SHOULD have beat them. We WILL beat them.
ZachTheZip
One of the big reasons the Zips played so well against NIU is because they see Can't waiting ahead and want another shot at them. They want it badly. Nobody is going to stand in their way.
Captain Kangaroo
Great win by the Zips last night. They played relentless on defense, and aggressive on offense...it was a lot of fun to watch. The sparse crowd didn't affect them at all (the ones that showed up did a nice job of acknowledging the team's effort).McAdams stated is was easier to get into the flow offensively, since there was no pressure to produce in a short time period. I believe it.Big Dog did a nice job yet again. It was great to see him adjust after his first missed dunk, and get 8 inches in the air instead of 4, to throw down #2 with authority.Antino drilled a three from 24 feet in the second half, and I glanced at KD to see if he was pissed...but he was smiling and clapping. It was a much looser "vibe" last night, and I think the team responded well to their freedom.Interesting post game quote from Dambrot that it was important for the team psyche to get Pat on the floor, if only for a couple minutes. It will be interesting to see if Pat can be effective on Wednesday night...or if he can only inspire for a couple minutes. Loved the refereeing. The game flew by. It was good for the local economy, as the early end allowed me to have a second $2 Blue Moon at B-Dubs after the game. Walters had some rough stats...but it's tough to enter the game an be asked to dribble-out the clock, then make something happen with 10 seconds remaining.Loved how Antino and Reggie attacked the rim. There was even a rare McAdams sighting in the paint! At least we've had some time to adjust to Noah's injury. The team seems to have adopted, and adjusted to Antino's pace. Thanks to the Zips for bucking up and giving us a puncher's chance in Cleveland. Wednesday night will be a blast, and after that we're on house money.
