pphilfran
When I mentioned the temp I was speaking about the fans getting lucky. Visitors sit on the east side and get pounded by the sun. Ain't much fun in 100 degree plus.It is currently 91 at 8:30 pm.This summer has really been mild. How much of this would you want.I live in Lawton, about 90 miles south of Norman. From June 23, 2012 through Aug 15, 2012. Lawton exceeded 100 48 times. 8 of those exceeded 110. It was toasty

ZippyRulz
A high of 92 and low of 72 is forecast for Saturday, partly cloudy. The first half will probably be mid-80's and second half in the low 80's. No doubt there will be substantial cooling equipment on both sidelines. Time of possession will be a bigger factor than the heat...we will be "toast" only if we can't get some 1st downs and keep the defense "fresh".
zipsoutsider
BOOMER SOONER(You're going to sick hearing that all game long.)Present company excepted, pphilfran (you have been a good sport in all of this), I hope Sooner fans realize how ridiculous it is to make fun of the nickname, "Zips" when you constantly cite and sing, "Boomer Sooner." Just sayin'

skip-zip
Zipgrad01....do you live in Akron? We've been over 90 degrees 7 times in the last month, and you can add a few more if you add in the last week of July. And several more times within the last month we've been within a few degrees of 90. Dave in Green
The average daily temperature at the height of summer in Akron and Norman is 84 vs. 96. That's a pretty significant difference in training conditions. At the very least it represents a small edge for the Sooners.

K92
Norman, Oklahoma has an average high temperature of 92 degrees Fahrenheit during the month of August, compared with a average high of 82 in Akron, Ohio. Anyone who has ever stepped out onto a practice field knows that those 10 degrees feel like 25. Then again, I went to Can't. What do I know? pphilfran
Present company excepted, pphilfran (you have been a good sport in all of this), I hope Sooner fans realize how ridiculous it is to make fun of the nickname, "Zips" when you constantly cite and sing, "Boomer Sooner." Just sayin' A little Oklahoma history.Oklahoma land rush of 1889 had folks lining up for the gun to sound. At high noon on April 22nd the gun went off and 50,000 settlers charged off to stake their land out of the 2 million available acres. They were called land Boomers. Those that cheated and staked out land prior to the official start of the land rush were called Sooners. So a Sooner is a cheater...The song itself uses the Yale fight song music (Boola Boola) with new lyrics.Sooner born and Sooner bred and when I die I'll be Sooner dead.
zen
But humidityI spent a few days in Tulsa last year on business and it was in the low 90's every day but felt surprisingly comfortable. Low humidity and a frequent breeze.
pphilfran
Weather won't be a problem. High of 90 and light wind from the south.
skip-zip
What's silly is allowing people to imply that people in the North don't experience high heat and humidity, especially in August when our players are going through pre-season workouts. skip-zip
Heads Up to Everyone:I found out last night that Johnny J's may NOT have the game tomorrow. Apparently, they have to pay a lot more to broadcast this game on PPV than the average person pays to get it at home. And understandably, they are probably doubting whether people will show up. I encourage everyone who wants to go there to call them and let them know that Akron fans are showing up. And call them in advance of the game tomorrow to make sure it's a GO.This is our opportunity to show them that Zips Fans want to have football gatherings. Lets not blow this opportunity !! pphilfran
It costs a lot more for a business. Some type formula based on business seating capacity.
K92
I didn't know districtballer had a twin brother in Oklahoma. (((Just kidding)))
pphilfran
I am guessing being called districtballer is not exactly a compliment.
Balsy
I am guessing being called districtballer is not exactly a compliment. It's not an insult either. He usually chimes in on conversations about seating capacity...and with Akron circles there's been considerable conversation on the seating capacity of our baseketball arena. K92
Not a bad thing, pphilfran. I won't speak for everyone, but I like having people from other fanbases visit. You just remind me of districtballer. You don't have kin in Richmond, VA do you?
Balsy
I remember suggesting that we Zip fans get together and organize this kind of stuff in advance, and come up with a regular timetable so we could just say where and when and the legwork would be done in advance so long as we'd all agree to go to those local establishments, but no one was interested at all. RowdyZip
Just called...was told "most likely" the game will not be on at Johnny J's. If anyone else wants to call: 330-865-6504.Anyone else have any ideas to see this? I don't have cable TV, but I'd gladly contribute a couple bucks.Edit: Guy named Graham answered and said they usually don't do pay per view stuff since it costs them thousands because they have to buy for every TV. Is this game under $10 for local providers? I'd think it'd be considerably cheaper.
