Game 2—Pittsburgh Panthers

Gate 3 was Pitt's will call. I heard all of their fans complaining about how long the line was. The Akron sellers were actually helping the Pitt representative to speed things up. I wouldn't put this one on the Akron staff. They opened up Gate 2 for sales now, which is nice. That's 3 more sales windows than they had last year. Too bad the weather killed the walk-up crowd.

I remember the huge group of people lined up at Gate 3 for Pitt Will Call, right before kickoff. Someone had to know the number of Pitt people coming to the game, and how many would be needing to pick up their tickets right before the game. If Pitt only had 1 person there, that's pretty stupid. But, I am sure that added to the bad experience for the Pitt fans.

Since we haven't had many good things to say about this game, I will offer what I think may be a glimmer of hope for the O. Dr Z reminded me of this with his post in another thread regarding the number of freshmen who played against Pitt. While he only caught one ball, I really liked the form and speed I saw in true FR Richie Cooper (#3). It wouldn't surprise me to see him getting more playing time very soon.

Is Peterman graduating this year? Maybe he would like to transfer "somewhere" for his final year of eligibility

Watched the game replay this week and a few things stuck out to me:

Personal foul by defense negated a 3rd down stop that ultimately led to their first field goal. That was a momentum shifter we gave away. It was almost like a defensive turnover. We have had far too many of those and I can see why TB is mad at the D.

Pitman and Jatavius Brown had very good games. Our secondary did good enough against Tyler Boyd that if the O had put up points, and exe died drives to pin Pitt back a little more, we would have won

Chapman looked better than I realized. Passes looked good, for the most part. Some lf his drives were killed by drops. He was much better throwing than against OK. Poor play calling and the collapse of the line too fast did not help Chapman. I think if Chapman can slow down his option read a tad, he will do better. That should come with experience. All that being said, I always thought the Woodson throws the best ball, but was ruined by poor decision making.

Jerome Lane made some drops, but not due to lack of effort. Does he have the hands to catch or was there a reason he was initially playing safety? Imani Davis and Goodman are still dropping the ball too much.

Peterman was the QB. Threw for 219 yards with 2 TD's and 2 INT's.

100 yards of total offense allowed with 7 sacks. We may have ran into a much better pitt team than we realized at the time.

And Oklahoma is still undefeated and a K. Herbstreit top 4 team- should help our RPI going into the postseason.
