GoZips88 Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Stanford just scored in 1st OT at Wake. We play the #8 Cardinals on Friday - LET'S GO ZIPS!!!!! Quote
MDZip Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 It will be Stanford - they just knocked off Wake in OT. So the College Cup seeds are 2, 4, 6 and 8. Quote

TennZip Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 attendance was 3,043....crowd really helped tonight Quote
zippyfan34 Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Not sure if it has been discussed before but after the game winner and many of the guys took off their shirts it looked like they were wearing a sort of "bra". After googling a little bit it actually looks like it keeps track of heart rate, recovery time and distance covered during the match, etc. Quote
ZachTheZip Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 attendance was 3,043....crowd really helped tonightI heard somebody from Creighton tried to shush the ROWDIES on the last free kick. Quote
acstorfer Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Is anybody else a little bummed we aren't playing Ohio State next?Actually it would have been great to play Wake Forest as well. Still though, it would have been great to be the death nail into the Buckeyes!I'm sure Stanford is going to put up a huge fight. Thankfully Zips soccer is talented enough to beat anyone. Quote

Balsy Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 How many on here were calling for Embick's head this season again?Losing to State Ohio University in the first round obviously makes people upset. I'll happily admit I was wrong. Go Zips! Quote

Thankfully Zips soccer is talented enough to beat anyone. It would have been even worse for State Ohio University to be the death nail to us. I'm not bummed about it at all. Soccer is our domain in this state. The worse State Ohio University is, the better IMHO. Quote
TennZip Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 many quotes from Elmer Bolowich in the Omaha paperhttp://www.omaha.com/creighton/zips-end-creighton-s-season-with-free-kick-in-nd/article_416b05c0-9ba6-11e5-9af7-87c8cf94dd6f.html Quote
Zip_ME87 Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 Adam Najem Top Drawer Soccer Goal of the Week. We’re taking a week off from our College Goal of the Week vote to get ready for our epic TDS Goal of the Year contest next week. That’s good news for you, but it also left us with a golazo-sized hole in our soccer hearts this week.Adam Najem wanted that to not be a thing, so he did this, and man are we thanking him for it. fknbuflobo Posted December 8, 2015 Author Report Posted December 8, 2015 Najem's Golden Goal Free Kick looks even better on video than it did up close. The ball never hit the back netting! 3 Quote
a-zip Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 Najem's Golden Goal Free Kick looks even better on video than it did up close. The ball never hit the back netting!I never noticed that.....great observation. The fact that he was set on the left side of the center of the field makes it even more impressive. Quote
natemathwhiz2 Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 I heard somebody from Creighton tried to shush the ROWDIES on the last free kick. This was actually from creighton player Ricky Lopez, who shushed the rowdies after both creighton goals, since the blue jays were attacking the goal in front of the hill. Zip_ME87 Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 How many on here were calling for Embick's head this season again?A number, but probably not as many as those in Portland who were upset with Caleb Porter earlier this season and others contemplating his return to the college game. Quote
fknbuflobo Posted December 8, 2015 Author Report Posted December 8, 2015 I was not calling for Caleb Porter's head, but I sure am happy he is remaining in the MLS (for now). What if he had taken the University of Pittsburgh job, for example?Regarding Jared Embick, I am on record several times back in 2012 as wanting the AD to make a dramatic hire. Some times have been tough since then, but Embick eventually proved his quality. But those two Plain Dealer articles by Terry Pluto really changed my perspective on Embick. http://www.cleveland...art_river_index http://www.wCan't State.org/news/story/45030 Also the arcticle on MLS.com helped do the same. http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2015/...-timbers-coach-caleb-porter-aims-more-historyThere are details in these articles of which I was unaware. Porter endorses Embick much more than I had suspected, and he credits Embick with Akron's past success. Quote

I'm out of likes.I wanted the continuity, and I was talking to Caleb at the time and he told me he endorsed Jared fully. It was still hard for me to tell how much of that was because he truly believed in Jared, or how much was due to loyalty. This past weekend was beyond anything I ever imagined for Zips Mens Soccer. Our former coach who brought us to glory in 2010 won it at the professional level with the Portland Timbers in Columbus, Ohio. While focused on his goal, he provided us GREAT press at the same time. Portland Timers-Caleb Porter-Darlington Nagbe, et al ARE MLS Cup Champs while the Zips are competing in the College Cup and pursuing that 2nd Star. WOW!I hope that folks realize with the MLS Homegrown rules and star players leaving early for the draft, we have to be patient at times. We are going to have to accept that rebuilding may be part of the process. Edited December 8, 2015 by Zip_ME87 Quote
