Ditto Ball. Same goes for Woodson. His 2015 QB rating is almost identical to our QB last season and half the fans wanted him run out of town. That said, he seems mediocre in a different way. He doesn't throw many picks, but his completion percentage is far worse. That's actually better from my perspective as the Badgers aren't especially adept at interceptions. I only quoted this section. I'll respond as follows: You'd have great points above, if talented young players never improved. Lane was a hybrid defensive lineman at the beginning of last season. Last year was his first crack at WR, and he was really raw. He's gotten better every game, and last week's 10 rec/200yd performance was impressive regardless of the opponent. His dad played in the NBA forever. He's a legit P5 athlete. He'll wreak havoc, if our QB has any time to throw. Ball has the best balance and power of any Zips back I've seen in... forever. He was stuck behind NFL first rounders his whole OSU career. I don't know that our OL can move the Wisconsin DL, but if they do Ball will put on a show. Woodson was an Arizona recruit that was accidentally shot in the leg in HS. Rodriguez pulled his scholarship, and he ended up at Akron. He weighed roughly 260 lbs his Freshman year. Threw a bunch of INT's. But showed a cannon for an arm. Last year he came into camp in much better shape. He had a really nice season considering his OL's pass protection was terrible, and his WR's were either inexperienced, or mediocre. If all you do is look at last year's numbers, sure, Ball, Woodson and Lane aren't impressive. But last year's numbers have zero impact on 2016. We'll see if our OL can have a collective good game on Saturday. If they do, the three names above will soon be familiar to Badger fans. If the OL struggles...at least the beer and brats in Madison are good.

Even though he was RAW last year, he still finished the season something like 2nd in the country in Yards per Reception?

Had we a better QB in the game, Lane would have had more yards against them. Additionally, he was our only significant threat as a WR so defenses could afford to focus on him without many repercussions. That is not the case this year. Natson's bio speaks for itself. CLB
This is really simple. Wisconsin is like Pitt but with more talent. Plus you are on the road.

Poor little Zips. Never played anywhere big before. As a matter of fact, I bet the guys are so afraid of the big, bad Badgers and their fans, they are asking TB to forfeit. Spoiler alert: No. Akron has never beaten a Big Ten team. I think I previously mentioned your 1894 victory over OSU, but technically that came before the Big Ten was founded the following year. And I was directly responding to your misinformed notion that the bottom of the Big 10 is somehow still vastly superior to the MAC. Two more things: 1) Plenty of the MAC wins over the years against Big 10 teams were not just "Big 10 bottom feeders", as you call them. 2) Akron doesn't play Big 10 teams very frequently in the OOC part of our schedule. So, we have far less opportunities than some of our other conference foes. And with the exception of one game against Indiana several years ago, no Big 10 team has ever played us at home. Love reading this in the silly Wiscansin accent. But seriously, Wisconsin overachieved against an overrated and poorly coached LSU team that looked like they were sleep walking. Akron's skill players on offense are on par with Wisconsin's. All depends on how the Akron O line plays

I didn't say anything about the MAC. We're playing Akron, so I was talking about Akron when I said "Bucky plays against a higher level of talent even among Big Ten bottom-feeders." But since you brought it up, I think if team the calibre of a Purdue or an Indiana or a Minnesota were in the MAC they'd be odds-on favorite to win the division most years. zipsoutsider
We keep gearing how lousy VMI was, but this is an offense that is used to practicing against a solid secondary. Deandre Scott will play on Sundays and perhaps, Bryce Jones. Furthermore, Tommy and most of the OL got looks against last year's D. It's not lie they will be caught off guard by Wisconsin. I know the varmints think that we will simply fold at the sight if their new savior, but they will be disappointed.

I think my response would be that the Badger defense gets consistently underrated. It was the #1 scoring defense in the NATION last year. That stat is helped by the fact that your conference scheduled included Purdue, Rutgers, Illinois, Maryland and Minnesota and didn't include Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State.
