If we avoid throwing the ball to Wiscy making them earn their points, we will hold them under 30.  Rushing will be difficult; so, Tommy will throw a lot exceeding 300.  Being very optimistic, throwing success will open things up for WB to go over 100.  Obviously, I never put money on a game.  I go into every week with a players mentality.

I guess I need to be better informed.  I didn't realize you had played The Tide this year.  I know you are looking for a blow out, but you better hope your team comes to play.

You do need to be better informed.  Look at me as your exemplar.  I took the time to learn all about your team so I could discuss the game cordially and substantively.

My point being we have pretty much the same defense as last season, so the performance (such as it was) has some relevance.  If you'd prefer a more contemporary example, let's use last week when the Badgers held LSU to 257 total yards on offense.  How much better is Akron than LSU?

I can't find the words to describe how much I love this.  Even Alabama can't do 300/100 against this D (and no one else even came close), but Akron has the horses!

You have no idea what "that" D can do either.  1 game a sample size does not make.  We'll certainly have a better idea tomorrow.

This is garbage logic.  It's not the transitive property.

So if we get our 300/100 we are better than LSU?  How did I get sucked into this?  The only thing we can say that the team with the most points on the board when time runs out tomorrow is the winner.  LV, you better consider that the team that shows up for game 2 can be a lot different than what showed up for game1.

It's not a sample size of 1, it's using an outlier on the far right side of the distribution beyond which there are no other observations.  I'm thinking of all 14 games this D (more or less) has played.  But Ham Sandwich is confident that Akron is going to push the envelope beyond what the National Champions were able to do.  Hey, you never know!

Please stop back after the game and give your impressions of what you perceive to be the weakness, and strengths of the Zips. It's always interesting to me to read opposing fan's opinions of the Zips.

I'd be happy to*.  Be warned, I won't be watching in real time, as my daughter's soccer game starts at the same time as the game.  There's a chance that I'll have caught up to real time on the DVR before the end, but probably not.

* This is contingent on a Badger victory.  Should the Zips win, I'll be erasing my account and going into hiding in Montana.

You might want to give your daughter a break and pass on her game tomorrow or more likely just sit alone in your freshman dorm room (LOL?)

No Zip fan answered all three questions correctly this week.

Technically you're correct, no Zips fans did but our two Wisconsin visitors got it right (sigh). Ball getting 71 yards against that defense is pretty impressive and despite the ass-whipping I'm actually pretty encouraged about our MAC East chances this year (thank goodness we are not in the West). Even if we start 1-3 which is quite possible. Marshall at their place is going to be tough and after seeing what Tennessee did against VT I think App St is an even tougher matchup. But the MAC East - Zips chances are as good as any.
