Have to admit, I did not pay the closest attention to the Minnesota scandal, but Minnesota has fired their coach after leading them to an impressive (by Minnesota standards) 9-4 record and bowl win. Looks like we have a serious contender out of nowhere to rip Mr. Fleck from Kalamazoo.

I actually think the Minnesota job is a pretty attractive opening. Its a program that actually has some talent, plays in a weak division, is a large state school in a decently populated state that features 1 FBS team, and has excellent facilities. They are certainly better than Iowa State, Kansas, Purdue, Cincy, and have a much higher ceiling than a Houston. The right coach can turn them around just like Dantonio turned around MSU.

My thoughts exactly.  I think Minnesota could be a sleeping giant.  The only drawback is that not much HS football talent comes out of Minn.  But other than that they play in the weaker division of the B1G, are located in downtown Minneapolis, is a good school and has an absolutely gorgeous football stadium.  I'm kinda a closet Minnesota fan.

Shovel the Snow

Paddle the Canoe

Hopefully he can sell the kids on staying or that could be a tough job

On the other hand we can use some D lineman if they want to transfer to Akron

Some players will definitely transfer, but him being a players coach might help him soften the blow. I still expect to see Minn bowling next year.

In other news WMU right now...

As a general rule, I'm always disappointed to see any talent leave the conference. I'm searching my feelings, and not coming up with disappointment this time, wonder why?

Let the stealing of 2017 recruits, commence!

I imagine some will say, some will follow, but there will definitely be some for the taking. I'd be thrilled if we could get 1 or 2.

Of WMU's commits, we have an offer out to:

- 3* QB Tanner Morgan, who I assume is off the table due to our commits and his offer list.

- 3* DT Tyron Chambers from Cleveland. Has quite a nice offer list though.

- 3* ILB Dwayne Chapman. Also has a nice G5 offer list.

The funniest thing about all of this would be if he does indeed take the Row The Boat theme to a place like Minneapolis...LOL

Although....Minnesota is the land of 1,000 lakes.

WMU has it trademarked.

Not necessarily off the table. He's a pro-style QB. If we think we can snag him, we will. Other QBs might see that offer and walk on their own or come and leave when they don't see the field.

I wonder if Western trademarked their coach sprinting down the sidelines in between quarters? If so, Gopher fans will really be missing out on the true experience.

Try to guess PJ's new shtick at UM...

Chambers now has an offer from Ole' Miss

It's going to be a deluge, I think.

Maybe he'll do that on a very cold, snowy day and fall on his a$$.  That would surely make Sports Center highlights.

They are the Golden Gophers....

dig that tunnel

hit that hole (maybe not the best idea considering the situation that led to the last coach's termination)
