2017 Pro Day

I have to say, being a Browns fan I do a ton of reading up on the draft and I think Marcus is going to be a steal for whoever drafts/signs him. 3rd round talent IMO but an injury riddled senior season is preventing him from getting any buzz at all.

LZ, do you think JN or SP will get a shot as UDFA?

JN...undecided. Incredible player and athlete but his size will probably be too much to overcome. If I had to pick I would say yes.SP....no. Underwhelmed his whole career to me, although he was apparently playing injured this season. I'll throw in DeAndre Scott as a guy I think could be picked late/UDFA. He seemed incredibly sound his whole career. I don't know anything about his athleticism though so maybe that could be a knock from teams. Not sold as much on Hope and/or Jones, but we've had equal or lesser guys get shots (Bryce Cheek with the Chiefs).

So my picks for guys who get a shot..Marcus, Lane, Scott, and maybe Natson. Not knowing #'s makes it difficult. John Ross broke the record with his 40 and is now guaranteed to go in the first round. Dri Archer got himself clear up to the 3rd round because of his 40 and then his career flamed out a few years in. If I had to guess Jojo lit it up.

I'll also add this for Lane. I have no clue how he will turn out at WR. I think most of us think he has pretty good potential. With that said I will bet on him having a decent length of a career if he buys into being a special teamer/reserve WR at worst. We saw his potential on defense. Should have an automatic leg up on a lot of other reserve WR journeymen there. He could be a stud on the ST unit.

I don't mean to keep blowing this thread up, but this is too hilarious not to share. Obviously the person asking George the question is a year off, but George has no clue who Darryl Monroe is (click on the tweet to see the response).

You know, I am gonna blow this thread up.  Real Zips fans can't go to practice and observe and report but George Thomas can.  The name Darryl Monroe doesn't even ring a bell.  #amateurhour

I agree with this. I was incredibly disappointed when he went up against WMU and didn't shadow Davis. They moved Davis to X, Y, and Z in that game, and Scott kept his position. Obviously that is coach Amato's D, but it's a question I hope to get the answer to in June. I would love to see his pff grade throughout his college career, I'll bet it's impressive. They rank him as the 24th CB in the draft.

Still disappointed not to see numbers here

I can't pretend to be an expert on combines and drafts and things like that...but it seems like this class has a lot more players than previous ones that people might be willing to take a stab on with a late-round draft pick/UFA.  Just by looks I'd say it'd be this order:

1.  Jamaal Marcus (5-7)

2. Jerome Lane (5-7)

3. Se'Von Pittman (6-7, UFA)

4. DeAndre Scott (UFA)

5. Larry Hope (UFA)

I'd love to see someone take a stab at Natson in UFA, but I doubt that right?  He's 151 lbs, and injury prone.  No way he'd survive the NFL right?  (Please go ahead and prove me wrong JoJo, I've teed this one up for ya to smash...)

Bowden hasn't pulled in future NFL talent on a large scale. But, J.Brown,C.Grice,J.J.Natson(special teams) and J.Lane(as a T.End,maybe) always stood out. Chisholm was OK as far as he went. D.Williams was never a pro prospect but was what Akron needed at the time. But,when you look back to the mid-200's and earlier with D.Smith ,Hixon, Frye,Alleman,Arthur, and I know I am missing a linebacker  and some others, there was some pretty good talent at Akron back then. Shoulda won some more games.

A trusted source has told me that Jojo ran a 4.35 and a 4.21, jumped 34" and benched 225 sixteen times at the pro day. The numbers should be posted after all schools finish their pro days.

He posted his video on Instagram. I believe it. He was absolutely smoking fast.

Akron pro day article----mentions Jerome Lane--Jamal Marcus--Sevon Pittman

Gil is one of my favorite NFL analyst. Hard on the ears, but full of knowledge. Interesting comment by Gil...."Jabrill Peppers –– I've felt for a long time that his best position might be running back."

In the correct system, I think Jamal has a chance to make a roster. I will forever remember his senior year as, what could have been for the Zips (with his and TW injuries). And the fact that he come back and played limited snaps injured. Good luck to him. I only wish he wouldn't have gone back to all his Columbus stuff on social media after the season.
