An Akron perspective of Iowa State’s football schedule (inspired by one I saw posted last year from a Penn State perspective):

1.      Jackronabbits (South Dakota State)

2.      I-Zippo-W-A (Iowa)

3.      North Akron QB Academy #1 (Baker Mayfield’s Oklahoma)

4.      The University of Akron

5.      Team Canton United (TCU)

6.      North Akron QB Academy #2 (Brandon Weeden’s Oklahoma State)

7.      Southeast Akron (West Virginia)

8.      Red Roo-ders (Texas Tech)

9.      University of Zip Wins in Football (Kansas)

10.   Bayloroos

11.   UT-Austrkon (Texas)

12.   Coach Goodcentury (Bill Snyder, the vampire, may never die)

13.   Goodyear Cotton Bowl

Is this game getting any tv coverage or perhaps online streaming?  GoZips dot com doesn't list any tv/video coverage.

Iowa State is using its third tier broadcast rights on the South Dakota State game, so the Akron game should fall under the Big 12 TV agreement and be available through most cable and satellite subscriptions.

I'm surprised that Cykron hasn't chimed in about the lack of respect we are getting from Des Moines media.  They are expecting a challenge Sat night from FCS South Dakota State, but look to Akron as a breather.

Iowa media actually follows their programs and watched the ISU/Akron game last year, thus the lack of respect. But that could work to our benefit. And those Dakota teams are getting really good.

The lack of respect is the residual of losing to North Dakota State a few years ago and occasionally losing to Northern Iowa, both FCS teams.  We have been forced to respect highly ranked FCS teams.  Also, it is related to the fact that we have such a big fan base.  It means that disrespect gets vocalized more because there are tons of idiots who spout off about college football rather than anything else.

And I will admit that we look down on the MAC, as if we have any reason to do so.  We have been a perennial bottom-dweller in the Big 12.  I think it has more to do with not knowing much about the schools in the Mid-East (or whatever you call the area between Dekalb and Buffalo).  I, on the other hand, have vast appreciation and interest in MAC teams.

Oh, and we beat you going away last year.  And then followed it up by beating two Top 5 teams.  Give us a break.  We don't get to be cocky very often.

This probably has more to do with Finebaum being far less relevant this year with everyone focusing on Ohio State rather than the SEC.  Don't worry Pauly, your good ol boys will give you something to talk about soon.  :thumb:

You are cordially invited to our tailgate in Ames before your game with Iowa State.  We tailgate in the RV lot, so we will be set up on Friday.  More details to come.

What, are you trying to get us struck by lightning or something? ;)

Looks like I may have to go to Iowa City to see our game to "open" the season.  Blech.

Kinda glad I didn't get that telescoping flagpole that was on my list!

Seriously, it rained Saturday morning, but it ended up being a decent day for tailgating.

Hey, I've got an idea that would help both of our teams.  In the words of the famous Cub Ernie Banks, "Let's play two!"  Maybe even get a double-header tailgate!

Kickoff 11am CT on Fox Sports North.  Join us for a breakfast tailgate.

So the only way us Ohio folk will be able to watch the game is to attend it or have login rights/cable subscription that has access to Fox Sports North? Bummer.
