Gaucho Dan's RPI calculation is more accurate than any other.

As repeated annually, NCAA tournament seeding is 95% RPI.

Zip_ME87...thanks for taking the time...to look up the RPI ranks...

the Syracuse game is going to be huge for the zips...

Syracuse....plays Va. Tech (#9 RPI) on Friday night before playing the zips

If Syracuse beats VA Tech on Friday...., they will be even higher in the RPI.

After playing the zips, syracuse next plays Wake Forest...

Zips really can move up with a good result against syracuse...I am surprised that Syracuse-VA Tech is not listed in article below (the rankings shown are top drawer poll rankings...not rpi)

the surprise team of the MAC is listed in article below...

https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/mens-weekend-preview:-sept-28-30_aid44996

No. 24 Northern Illinois (7-2) at No. 11 Portland, 10 p.m. (wccsports.com)

One of the breakout teams of the current season, NIU has already well-exceeded last fall’s win total of three. Timely goals have been a big part of the team’s record to this point, with Jan Maertins and Anthony Markanich each snagging two game winners apiece. A trip to the Pacific Northwest for a Friday night clash against the Pilots is a massive test of NIU’s staying power. Benji Michel’s profile and potential pro prospects are growing leading the line for Portland. He has eight goals in nine games, including five winners – it’s difficult to understate his importance to the team. Senior Kienan Weekes' contributions between the posts, in his first season as a starter, have also been important.

Prediction: Portland 2-0 Northern Illinois

Bring 'em on. There's not one team here that I, let alone the team, fear. We are a very good team. When we find our form, which we will, we are going to be awesome. Fear none, respect all. Go Zips!

2 MAC teams in the top 30....The zips are not one of the 2 teams

Zips are 5th out of 6 teams in the MAC in terms of RPI

The zips competed last night on defense.   That was an encouraging sign.

It is amazing Akron has the 5th best RPI in the MAC

I am going to predict that Diogo Pacheco will step up big on Tuesday night and will have a very good game against Creighton

It's been a good year for the MAC against outside competition: the MAC has the 3rd best conference RPI (out of 24 conferences total), behind only the ACC (way ahead of everyone else) and the Pac-12:

if the zips can win the mac, they should move into the mid to high 20's for RPI...and get to host a round of 64 game

one game at a time though....

they have to play for 90 minutes and get past West Virginia on Friday night

I was very wrong about the zips jumping into the mid 20's if they won the mac

they were 19 this morning as a result of the win over west virginia

jumped up to 14 as of 6:06 eastern time....in gaucho dan rpi

top 16 seeds get a bye until sunday and host a game against a winner of a round of 64 game

17-32 seeded teams have to host a game on thursday game

dare the zips dream about a top 16 seed?

Zips have a decent chance of getting a seed and a first round bye, but Denver and Syracuse have good cases also. My guess is that Akron will be left outside the top 16, but I'd be very happy to be proven wrong.

Zips are peaking at the right time. Squad improved 100% over past month.

RPI is #14 and SOS is #10.

10 wins total with 4 Top50 wins.

Plenty of pedigree in the past decade.

I say Zips get one of the last 4 seeds and do not play until weekend.

I hope you are corrected about getting a seed.  You are definitely on the money about them peaking at the right time.
