Let'sGoZips94 Posted December 20, 2018 Report Share Posted December 20, 2018 The MLS has something called the Homegrown Player Rule. Every MLS team has a development academy. As explained here, if the player is on the homegrown list and goes to college or one of the National Teams, they can sign with their homegrown club at any point. If other sports adopted this youth development format, would it work? Why wouldn't sports owners want their best local talent to stay local?
