Sources report a 6-1 victory for the Zips in game one.

4-2-3-1

Borneo #12 and Bartels #15 are as good as advertised in offensive MF.

The pleasant surprise is Ydrach #8 at CB.  This enables Buechte to play defensive MF instead of CB.

Malik Henry was very sharp today

at his usual RB.  His goal was a thing of beauty.

I counted 2 goals in the first. One off a CK and one that I believe was an own goal by their keeper. Stefan with the 3rd goal in the 2nd half.

The score of the 2nd game was confirmed 3-0 with Stefan scoring the hat trick. AWESOME! Stefan also scored 1 of the 6 goals in the first game.

I think that Stefan is going to have a big year in 2024.   I think that Stefan also had an assist in the first game.

Malik Henry had 1 goal and 2 assists in the first game.

first college league spring game this saturday

Michigan State at Akron at 5 pm....

Go, Zips !!!

Zips and MSU tie 0-0. Each team gets a point in the table. MSU prevailed 4-3 on pks for future tie-breaker if needed.

Disappointing display by our Zips. Indecisive, slow, backward come to mind. Too frustrated to write any more at this time.

Maximus Barboto looked good, think he is coming off an injury- nice seeing him on the pitch.  Daragh Reilly almost scored on a header.   Malik Henry looked good imo, had opportunities with the defender on his side.  Overall, not a lot of scoring opportunities.  Time to regroup for next week at Michigan.

Spartans looked about the same quality as the average Big East opponent.  Maybe not even that good.  Zips played well as a unit the first 15 minutes, creating space and asking questions of the MSU defense.  Then they inexplicably seemed to lose focus after that.  Toward the end, Spartans owned the match.  Zips ran out of offensive ideas in the 2nd half, becoming plodding and predictable.

Very tough to imagine a positive trajectory for 2024.

Roberto Ydrach CB #8 continued to impress, but he made a few miscues.  Maximus Barboto MF #21 provided a spark in very limited playing time in the 2nd half.

Both Zips outside backs played pretty well, Henry and Kamdem.

Thank you. 3/4 of the match was so bad, I lost the little that was good. Malik and Ashton played pretty well. So much of the Zips offensive game was played on the left side of the field, Malik was often left open and could have probably had more of an impact. Why is our team so focused on the left side of the field and the long ball? They don't seem to be able to switch sides of the field like Zips Mens soccer teams have in the past. That coupled with the over-reliance on playing back to the GK puts our team in bad situations. Seeing this continue from recent unsuccessful seasons does make it tough to imagine a positive trajectory for 2024.

I think that Michigan State defeated Dayton 3-2 yesterday in the spring league

Bowling Green had defeated Michigan a few weeks ago

I think that BG is 1-0-0 and has 3 points

MSU is 1-0-1 and has 4 points...won PK shootout against Zips so they win tiebreaker if zips and spartans tie

Akron is 1-0-1 and has 4 points

Dayton is 0-1-0 and has no points...

Michigan is 0-2-0 and has no points

I believe that this week's games are Dayton hosting Michigan on March 23 at 3 pm

and the zips playing at BG on March 22

Dayton hosts BG on March 30

Michigan and Michigan State must also play that weekend....game is at Michigan State

In the final weekend...Akron hosts Dayton on April 6

BG will host Michigan State on April 6

zips and bowling green played to a 0-0 result in 90 minutes

Zips 1-0-2 ...after 3  games ...5 points

BG   1-0-1 after 2 games....4 points

Michigan State.....1-0-1 after 2 games......4 points

Michigan State hosts Michigan tomorrow....they can surge to 7 points....with a win at home over 0-2-0 Michigan
