RPI update and Field of 48

Recommended Posts

  • TennZip changed the title to RPI update and Field of 48

Thank you to Charlotte, Dayton and Vermont for taking care of business today....

Zips need to beat teams like IU-Indy and Temple next year......so the team and fans are not sweating it out next year on the weekend before selection Monday.

Exactly. I keep finding myself wondering how we're even close to the cut line but then I have to remind myself about those back-to-back losses. Hopefully the committee keeps in mind that those matches were over two months ago and not reflective of our current form.

Charlotte wins it in OT, keeping the Zips 4 spots above the projected cut line with all but the Big 10 title game completed.

Unfortunately, Marshall and West Virginia are still playing...

they are in overtime

West Virginia tied UNC-Greensboro during the year

a West Virginia win could greatly benefit UNC-G

someone very wise in the state of New York....yesterday said the possibilities are dizzying 😧

Another variable is that teams are required by the NCAA to submit bids to host tournament games. Some of these qualifying schools may not have even bid to host.

From NCAA Soccer The following materials must be submitted by institutions that wish to be considered as hosts for
preliminary-round competition. All materials are due by 5 p.m. Eastern time, Monday, October
28, 2024.

Looks like it's likely gonna be penalties for WVU and Marshall (5 minutes left in 2nd OT), which would count as a draw for record and RPI purposes.

Furman wins 2-0...WVU wins on PKs. With the results, Akron stayed at #34. Ahead of UNCG at #35.

Marshall jumped from #13 to #8.....with a "tie" on the road.

Despite the PK win , WVU stayed at #16 in RPI

Good news that Akron stayed ahead of UNCG.

UCLA does have a 2-1 win over Ohio State .......and a regular season tie and a PK loss against Michigan.

UCLA currently shows as last team out.....

no clue ....whether an Ohio win today or a Michigan win today...would benefit UCLA more

Fordham was 32 at the start of the day and Oregon State was 30 at the beginning of the day

Michigan was 28 at the start of the day

currently...with today's results....Fordham has jumped to 29....Oregon State has dropped to 32

Michigan has dropped from 28 to 31

would a Michigan loss today in big ten final...drop them behind Akron....for an at large spot ???????

Seems like it could since an OSU win would benefit the Zips as well.

1-0 Buckeyes is the final.

Question:  Is our OT "loss" to Georgetown considered as a loss or draw for records?  I thought all OT games were draws, but GoZips.com shows a loss.

It is considered a loss.  One of the post above indicated a penalty shootout goes down as a tie but an overtime loss is a loss.

It’s a loss. Only a loss in PKs is counted as a draw

it is a loss....when a team loses in the first or 2nd over time

only a draw when it is decided by PK's (in every tournament game ...other than the NCAA final)

Akron loss on PK's to scum bags Virginia in 2009 final ...counts as a loss in that incredible season.

yes, I am still bitter...I can still see dirtbag Diego Restrepo running over with both middle fingers toward the AK rowdies.

and Restrepo was screaming obscenities
