The constraints at Northwestern typically limit the talent on the field. The constraints at Akron do not. Northwestern has never been anywhere near talented enough to compete with Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, etc., which is what mad Pat's success at Northwestern much more impressive. Akron is as talented if not more talented than a good chunk of the MAC. At that point the spotlight gets put on the discipline and Xs/Os, which we have very much fallen short in both categories. That's a coaching problem. Period. So you think the multiple year bowl ban (even after six wins), lack of academic / training resources, and a small to non existent NIL pot is all coaching and doesn't limit talent coming to UA? That's not what I said. In fact, my point is that despite those hindrances, Akron is quite talented and should continue to be going forward. The new HS class is small but impressive. Talent retention is a problem, but every school is going through that. I don't know what you're referencing with the 6 wins, but this team had 5, hence why they aren't bowling. No matter how much anyone wants to dissect the problems with the program, the results on the field are directly tied to the head coach. Edited 6 hours ago by Let'sGoZips94 Quote

W/ six wins they still wouldn't go bowling this year bc of the 885 APR in 21/22 that dragged the average. Maybe UA files an injunction and wins, maybe not. I agree JoeMo is part of the problem but I think there's deeper and bigger issues than just the HC. Maybe you're right, idk. Quote

And that's correct but we'll never know because we lost 2-3 games we absolutely should've won. I just don't see the deeper problems being THAT big of a deal when, on the field, we look very similar to the other team. And that's probably a huge credit to JoeMo's recruiting ability, but the Xs and Os are incredibly disappointing for an "offensive genius." 1 Quote
zippy5 Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago We're a middle of the road team talent wise based on recruiting rankings, and we finished middle of the road. The fact that JoeMo can even put together middle of the road talent levels with the restrictions he faces is an achievement. Then finishing even where he should based on talent level, given the practice restrictions, is still a notch in his belt. I get he's not out pounding the pavement for donors and maybe that's part of the gig these days, but the guy has done okay with what he has available to him imo 2 Quote

My guess is Ryan Day doesn't ever talk to a donor who has never given a dollar. His time is probably spent with donors who have already contributed. He doesn't pick up the phone and call anyone at this point. Most fundraising is probably done off season and over lunches. Quote
