After just one possession... Sac State defense dominated Eastern Michigan. 

 

Emu picked up on first down then had to punt...

3:30 left in the first quarter and the first down that eastern got on their first drive IS THE ONLY first down the whole quarter. neither offense looks any good at all

EMU should’ve already put this game away. Sac State is not a good team. Total yards at the half: EMU = 260, SS = 34.

 

Edit: I will say SS has a freshman RB I’d take in a heartbeat. If they utilize him more often, they may have a chance to be competitive in a few games this year.

UNLV game is about to start they just said that UNLVs rb maybe this years Ashton Jeanty...  They are playing Memphis.

playing at allegiant stadium on the strip and they said the lower bowl is full so good mwc crowd.

This one gave me a little hope the Zips can win on Homecoming.

edit: nvm. I thought I read Orji was going to be the starter. Arnold has been at both Oklahoma and Auburn though..definitely talented. A luxury to have two guys of that caliber on the team.

EMU looks like a typical EMU team from the past few years. It’s definitely a winnable game.

I watched most of the Robert Morris game. They aren’t good, but Wagner is worse. Both teams struggled to get any push in the run game and neither team’s defensive front looked that impressive. RM scored on a blocked punt and then on short field position in the first half. They scored on a post-corner route in the 3rd where the WR reversed field and outran the defense - two of Wagner’s DBs took bad angles. I didn’t watch all of the fourth quarter, but I know the same receiver scored another touchdown.

 

Regardless of the Zips QB situation, this should be an easy win in a few weeks as I don’t think RM will be able to move the ball much on our defense and I seriously doubt they’ll be able to stop our run game.

I caught parts of the Memphis/UNLV game. Both teams looked really good to me. Memphis is running the Heupel/Tennessee offense and has the players to do it. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think they are candidates for the G5 playoff spot this year. Their QB, Stokes, is a stud.

You figure the AAC winner is nearly in the driver's seat for the G6 playoff spot.  It's easily the best G6 league, IMO

I think it depends on how badly they beat up on one another. Like a 1 loss champion from MWC, PAC-12, or SunBelt will likely always beat out a 3 loss champion from the AAC.

I guess we'll know more about our matchup with UNLV after Thursday. In any case, it will be a tall task to knock them off even at home.

They can call it what they want, but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

 

I figure most years going forward, the playoff spot (and they won't do two G6 ones again) will be either the PAC-12 or the AAC.  The other leagues absent a 13-0 team won't get the bid.

 

Obviously if people ever get some sort of governance together for the sport, things may go a little back to a more sustainable model and then who knows.
